Revolution/Wii nunchuck secrets + Tons of games announced

This has been rumored all week, and
some sites claimed to have confirmed it but couldn't offer details.
But today, EA made a slip-up. Apparently, the left-hand 'nunchuck' part of the controller is motion-sensitive.
http://revolution.ign.com/articles/703/703727p2.html
we are still working on the final button layout, but it does use the trigger buttons, and it does use the accelerometer in the nunchuck unit as well for juking.
and
When you receive the ball, you run with the analog stick on the nunchuck and if you want to juke, you use the nunchuck to gesture it. And if you want to stiff-arm, you use the wand.
Nintendo just might make me forgive them for calling the system Wii if they keep giving us cool things like this
Oh right, I promised tons of games.
All of the following have been announced for Revolu- er, Wii.
Super Monkey Ball: Bannana Blitz
Madden Wii (yes, the name is tentative, thankfully)
Some Nintendo racing game (could it be F-Zero? Mario Kart?)
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Elebits
Skatto Golf Pangya Revolution
Madden Wii *snicker* sounds actually quite cool. I haven't purchased a sports game since the Sega Genesis, but the Revo- gah, Wii- actually has me interested in sports games because of the controller. It's online as well.
And a motion-sensing nunchuck will allow all sorts of possibilities. Can anyone say "dual weilding"?
I'm curious as to Nintendo's top secret racing game.

Supermonkey Balls. Because everyone loves balls, especially monkey ones.

If I wanted to play with balls, I wouldn't use a controller, I'd just reach down my pants.

Super Monkey Ball....
sweet...
and Madden Wii may actually be the first football game I *enjoy* since Super Tecmo Bowl....but I'll hold off judgement till I actually get to play it.

If the accelerameter in the nunchuck is the last big Rev secret, I will barf on my Wiiwii. Complicating the control scheme is something which Nintendo was supposed to be getting away from.
Moving the nunchuck around while fooling around with the remote will be akin to patting your head and rubbing your tummy at the same time. And if you're not using both at the same time, then they might as well have put every doohickie in the remote and left the chuck norris attachment for thumbsticks and triggers.

Yeah, cause you know game desingers assign controls at random and don't do anything like put less used features on the less convient(Z button) controls.

Your sarcasm would be decent if you had actually attacked something I said. I'll give you a 1.5/10 cuz I'm feeling pretty thirsty right now.
I have tested this out, actually, and found that moving the left wrist with precision while moving my right wrist is a PITA.
Having an all-in-one solution for motion of any kind is better than splitting it between two controllers.

It's not the last big secret. Someone asked a Nintendo rep in an interview last week if a rumored motion-sensing nunchuck attachment was the Rev's big secret, and they said "If that's all you're expecting, you're in for a surprise".
And it sounds fine. Think about it. Zelda. One hand is the shield, one hand is the sword. Boxing. Each hand is a fist. FPS. One hand throws grenades, one shoots- or dual weilding.
You normally use both hands at once, it's not going to be hard unless developers use it stupidly. For example, Madden- jerk the left controller to hit people, use the right to throw the ball.

Huh? It IS an all-in-one solution for motion of any kind. The right hand picks up motion, tilt, and depth. The left hand ALSO can pick up motion. That's it.

I've never seen anyone describe the senor in the remote as an accelerometer. They way they word it, it sounds as if the mechanisms are different for each controller. If both controllers can do exactly the same thing sensor-wise, then great, I have no problem.

The right hand one actually detects all tilt, motion, acceleration, and distance from the screen via the receiver. We don't know the exact mechanism, but it basicly does everything an accelerometer and a gyroscope would do.
The left hand one is just an accelerometer I think, so it wouldn't detect tilt, but it would detect motion. Then again, EA wasn't being exactly detailed, so they could very well be exactly the same.
Either way, the right handed one does everything the nunchuck does and possibly more.

So will these controllers be reversible, or are the lefties shit out of luck here?

The controllers look like you can hold them with either hand.

I'm pretty sure it won't matter which hand you hold it in.
Heck, some games that don't use the nunchuck will be playable by one-armed people. I know a guy who's right hand is disabled that is interested in the system.

I still like the fact that I can actually say "I'm playing with my Wii right now".
Actually no. That sounds fucking stupid.
Anyways, the system is going to be awesome, gonna grab one 1st day. I just wish they didn't have such a stupid name.

OK, I was pretty pissed off when Nintendo came out with the new name. I now see their reasons for doing so, and while I may dislike it, based off this new piece(s) of news I think I can forgive them for it.
That being said, this "surprise" at E3 better be something pretty damn cool.

Yes. Yes I can.
Edit: Typo

And Nintendo's last controllers were designed to be comfortable for lefties.

Bullshit -- the N64 controller was cleary made for the President of the Galaxy, Zaphod Beeblebrox.

You know, we hooked up the N64 the other day for a game of Mario Party 1 and I was surprised at how uncomfortable it was compared to my Wavebird.

The basic 64 controller gets my vote as one of the worst designed controller bodies ever.
Xbox gets my vote for specific buttons, though their subsequent controllers corrected that issue.

Really? A few weeks ago, I went to my friends house, and we played Super Smash Bros. The controller felt fine to me. Granted, it wasn't as good as the wavebird, but it was by no means uncomfortable.

The N64 controller isn't as comfortable as the Wavebird, but I think it's the best of it's time. Better, IMHO, than the PSOne controller and Saturn.

The N64 pad was the result of poor foresight on the part of Nintendo. They imagined at the time that the D-pad would still remain the main control method, not the stick.
That being said, if you ignore the entire D-pad part of the controller....it was actually a very comfortable design.

Wrong.
Oh, wait.
The original PS1 controller didn't have sticks, did it? Okay, you win.

Yeah, really, I simply have no idea why the hell people had such a problem with it, unless they were all fucking idiots who held it wrong or never held it at all...
I wouldn't be so wankish and call it the best, though. For me that would be the PS1 Dual Shock/PS2 controller.

Yeah, it's vastly better than the stickless one, and I personally liked it a little better than the original Dual Shock too.
If Sony had swapped the position of the D-pad and left joystick it would have felt much better. Microsoft smartly did that, except their controller felt ridiculously bulky. I do like the XBox 360 controller though, quite a lot.
And I dunno, I just liked the feel of the buttons on the N64 controller (and the trigger, very nice) better.
But that's a personal preference.
Currently, my top three favorite controllers are:
Wavebird
XBox 360 Wireless
Any Logitech controller for PS2 or XBox
My least favorite is the original XBox.
I hope to add the Revolution controller to my favorites list in 9 days
