With that posted, I defer to the expertise of resident HJT experts.

And, no, nuking Windoze on this box is NOT an option, for various reasons that I won't bore you with.

I'll defer to the HJT experts with regard to analyzing that log, as I don't have time to go through it right now. But check out this link. That program, NGenFix, is available free of charge for purging already infected systems, and it works rather well. It doesn't give any preventive protection, but when you combine it with the resources you will find in the sticky thread (Crap Cleaner, AdAware SE, Spybot, SpywareBlaster (immunization only, no removal) and what you'll find at Major Geeks), those should get you off to a good start.

Right - thanks for the pointers. I'll give 'em a go.

If you post the logs in the HJT sticky thread at the top, I'm sure that the expert there can help you difuse the ticking time bomb you've got there. The best thing you can do is just run every spyware killer there is. But I doubt you'll get it all anyway.

Looks like women's intuition handled it - sicced my sister onto it, and she clobbered the problem.

Followed up with GIANT and spybot, and the problem doesn't seem to have recurred.

ed: NGenFix was also handy, thanks for pointing it out.
