Forcing a printer to print on the color cartridge...

Is there a way to temporarily force a printer to print on its color cartridge for black text, instead of using the black cartridge? The reason I'm doing this is because I need to print something out, and I'm all out of black ink.

Thanks.

Try removing the black cartridge from the printer.

Well, the obvious solution works. :D Didn't think the printer would want to print without a black cartridge. Thanks again.

That's probably because yours is one of the printers that uses the black ink as a coolant as well as an ink. It'll still fire the ink through the printhead even when not using black and can cause some serious damage to the unit via overheating if it does have the ink to do so. Hence the non-printing without the cartridge.
