Peculiar Linux Problem

So. I recently gave Linux another shot with Mandriva One. The installation went fairly smoothly surprisingly, but after re-booting I noticed a bizarre problem. The keyboard seems set on NumLock, and no matter what I do it won't turn off.
Using a Thinkpad 600x, this means I can't use about half the keyboard. I've already turned off the 'turn numblock on boot up' option off in settings, and haven't had any luck. Fiddling around with other settings doesn't seem to do anything, and I can't think of anything else that might be wrong. (Yes, I turned off the numb-lock key). So, if anyone's had similar problems or knows what I might be able to do to fix it, would definitely appreciate the help.
