Gears of War looks INSANE!

Check out these actual game play vids from IGN.com:

IMO it looks at least as good as the old pre-rendered Killzone trailer. I'm seriously looking forward to this game!

Killzone apprently COULD have been real gameplay movie, from all we're seeing on the PS3 and Xbox360.

The graphics on Killzone from E3 last year were possible, but Sony did say that it was done via CGI, and not on an actual PS3. Gears of War looks at least as good as anything else I've seen. I'm very happy with the way the next-gen is shaping up!

Gears of War looks good, but if the gameplay trailers are anything to go by I always HATE the idea of emptying a clip into every single freken enemy. Watch the IGN ingame trailers and you'll see the player basicly spend two clips per badguy both because of Console targeting and because the grunts seem to take twenty bullets each to kill.
That said however the animations for the player movements look great and a Assault Rifle/Chain saw? What will they think of next! As if Baynots were not good enough as it is.

Looks nice, but like Bean says, it's feather-bullets again. At least we can hope for difficulty settings?
And is it just me or have all the PS3 stuff looked insane? Are they just Sony-brand marketing, or are they from games that are actually nearly finished?

My new philosophy is this: If you don't see a guy playing the game with a controller in his hands, it's bullshit. Seriously, I've been noticing more and more a lot of games with in-engine cutscenes that look like CG, while the actual gameplay graphics are pretty run-of-the-mill (case in point, Gran Turismo 4). That goes double for Sony demos, with all the shit they've pulled.

I agree about the amount of bullets it take to kill someone - hopefully that will get fixed. But, in all honesty, it didn't look like that many shots were landed. I just watched one of the clips again, and only about 1/4 of all the guys shots actually hit anyone. LOL!
The PS3 stuff looks pretty damned good too, but unless Sony commits to something like Xbox Live, they'll loose a lot of people. Xbox Live is just about the greatest thing in the console world. It's organized, it's easy to use, but I'll conceed that it's not quite as cool as online PC games. But if you can't afford a $1500+ gaming PC, than a $400 console isn't too shabby - especially considering what we've seen from the 360 so far.

Heh. It's not feather-bullets, it's Halo-style 'assault rifle' conefire.
Sony has such a terrible record with marketing scams I'm wary of accepting too much of the 'promotional' stuff released thus far. And yeah, the PS3 better have a decent (ie, not central station) network thing, or it's boned. I don't think the new consoles look PC-quality on regular tvs, so the 'lolz cheap' argument is bunk - at least in 'HDTV what's that' Australia, anyway.

I play my 360 on my 19 inch PC monitor, and my games look great! I bought my monitor brand new from newegg for $100. It's impossible to play with friends, but that's ok - most of my gaming buds have a 360 anyway. A true 720P tv is only about $550 - which might be a lot to some, but it's not too bad.

720p for $550? What is is, some 64cm piece of crap?
Damn Americans and their cheap-as-all-shit technology... here, they still have a 'curved CRT' section to stores. Check THAT shit. lol

LOL!!! Sorry, but I couldn't resist. At the bottom of this link, there is a 27" 16:9 LCD TV, for $570. I haven't looked anywhere else, but I'm sure you can find one for cheaper, and I'm sure they ship to you, down under:
I don't know how to dress my links

Gears of War looks like it could be one of the big new game franchises to pop up, it seems like its very atmospheric and of course the graphics look sweet. The whole "LOL! I shotz u 50 timez bitches!!1!!1" thing is troublesome but not enough to make me change my mind about the game.
Course as always, i await to see if actual gamers have trouble with it.

I live less than an hour away from San Francisco! Lol. TVs are getting a lot cheaper, in the U.S. at least, because later this year, SED and the new generation of TVs are going to take over.

Says you - the LAST generation never really happened here.

Did you miss the fact Gears of War is on the Xbox360, and it WAS in fact played live?

I was responding to Stark's comment about the PS3 demos.

PS3 demos this year were half of playable games, half admitedly prerendered CGI. Which was kinda of suprising, as personally, the real time demos looked far better.
