info

I haven't noticed any other threads about this, so apologies if this is a duplicate thread. I just remember loving 1, 2, and 3, and despising 4. This one however looks like 3 made 3D, and then cooler.

Phoned UBI in Sweden and asked about Starforce.

They said it did not use starforce, so I have HMM 5 on preorder :)

You know, I was all ready to post a 'lol not interested' message... but it actually looks kind of neat. I hated the combat in the old ones, but found the strategy and rpg elements to be a bit of fun.

Awesome, that's something I completely forgot about.

I just hope that an add-on is released for Heroes 5 that includes the Conflux town again. ;)

Well the demo was very promising anyway. The same cracklike addictive gameplay like the first 3 versions combined with kickass graphics.

I see they got rid of the horrible unit organization of the fourth one (4 level per city? Inferno + Necropolis living together? WTF?). That is good. Too bad they made the Dungeon the Angst Elf town, though, that sucks.

Have a very nice day.

The cutscenes (and well, the storyline thus far) dissapointed me. They are vapid and the voice actors are bored to death when reading their lines. Plus in one type of cutscene they have lipsyncing and in the other they don't. Weird. Unless the first one is prerendered, but since it looks like just like the engine stuff quality wise I'm hoping it isn't. If there is one thing I hate about prerendered animations, it's when they take something that the engine could handle and stuff it into an animation.

Quite honestly, the cinematics will be a bonus, at best for me. The gameplay, graphics, and systems are what I'm really looking forward to.

All the towns look fun to play as, but I think as a prediction, I'll like the Academy and Dungeon the best.

It is 3D but not that cool. I'd rate them from best to worst: 3+WOG, 3, 5(only because of 3D graphics),2 and 1.
3D might be cool for the first 30 minutes but after that some effects started getting on my nerves (a Haven hero riding through rocks to strike at an opponents army) etc. Blah, its playable but not a killer-ap.

I am somewhat unhappy they got rid of the neutrals though. It's not exactly Heroes of Might and Magic if the Might part is gone, now is there? Plus, how am I supposed to build my Behemoth Army of Doom if there are no Behemoths around? Or Cyclops, or Thunderbirds, or Nomads, etc?

Have a very nice day.

Or Ghosts. Ghosts were the most fun to make obscene armies out of. ;)

I realize that this is technically thread necromancy (and the pun here doesn't escape me), but this game has now been released...for WinXP. We masochistic Mac users will evidently have to wait.
