I went through that line twice. It was insanity.
Just watch the two videos. No more needs to be said. The stunned look on the Sony exec's faces are priceless.

I took a picture of Sony's line. I'll post that later as I don't have access to my laptop at the moment, but I'd be surprised if there were 20 people in it. Some of the PS3's outside of Sony's inner ring (that had the line) were unattended- I walked up and played Sonic and Madden (Madden sucked).

That's one huge line!

I wonder how long it would take before the last person moves, when the first person in the line is done playing...

Jesus fucking christ that was LONG, I kept expecting it to end SOMEWHERE near Nintendo, not near the exit.

Where are the Sony Execs? I missed them.

First video, I think. Hard to make out details, but they looked frustrated.

They'd be the ones holding the railing from the second floor of the sony booth in the last seconds of the video. They appear very frustrated, one starts swinging his fist.

Did anyone notice near the beginning of the line, a TV screen with an old guy in a blue shirt on it?

That was the coolest thing ever. That was the guy who does Mario's voice. He sees everyone in line through a digital camera attached to that TV, so when you get to that point in line you just get to sit back and chat with the voice of Mario (and Star Fox and a few others) for a while. He's a cool guy, too.

It doesn't work that way.

Nintendo's booth had a sort of 'inner ring'. They let a small group in at a time. There is around 40 Wii booths set up inside. That line is simply to get inside the Wii section.

Once you're inside, it's 1-2 hours wait to play any of the AAA titles and 20-30 mins to play games like SpongeBob. You can stay inside as long as you want.

Once you get to a game, you have ten minutes of play.

You'd be interested to know that if you stand at the front of the line and turn to the right, that was GameSpot's booth.

I'll post that vid as well when I have access to my laptop.

Ah. I suppose that makes sense.
Well, there should still be wave propagation phenomena when they let a new group of people in :)

No lines!
Did you get stocked up on food and drinks before heading for the Wii line? :)
And did you see anyone play their 10 mins, then run like mad for the nearest bathroom? :D

I stocked up on food but ended up eating almost none of it. Too many interesting things to watch as we got to talk to the guy who does Mario's voice, watched people playing dozens of DS Lite games being shown on monitors, and played 8-player Tetris.

As for bathrooms; nope. I didn't see anyone run for the bathroom, and I expect that after waiting for hours in line most of them would just pee in their pants rather than give up their spot :P The only one I saw running to the bathroom was Adam Sessler, who almost ran over me.

Holy shit. This makes the little Nintendo dork inside me scream with rapturous joy.

Lemme guess who won: it starts with an "N" and ends in "Nintendo," right? :D

Those vids made me go all giddy inside. 4 hour waits for 20 minute to 1 hour lines. Holy fuck. I am very envious of you, Praxis. Bastard. :P

Nah, NNintendo's waits were nothing compared to Nintendo's lines.

I thought, before I saw this line video back during E3, that Nintendo was winning E3. Now I realized that they owned it was a tiny little noob and sent E3 back into the logistical equivalent of fetal position. Now that's hardcore.

Jeebus, I heard that the line was long I never actually saw the video of it until now. Nintendo calls the console the Wii and everybody laughs, and then everybody goes and lines up to play it. Priceless.
