I suppose if you knew html you could check the source code for the video filename, set up your browser to save that filetype instead of running it, and enter the filename into the URL bar. But there's probably an easier way.
Fragment of the Lord of Nightmares, release thy heavenly retribution. Blade of cold, black nothingness: become my power, become my body. Together, let us walk the path of destruction and smash even the souls of the Gods! RAGNA BLADE!

http://keepvid.com/ is all you need.
Here's a tutorial to download and then convert the vids.
You can use a browser-based app to rip the videos without every installing anything.

Works for both google video and you tube. I haven't tried the AVI portion yet, but the flash video (FLV) works fine. You can play it in VLC, although its a pain in the ass if you want to skip to certain parts. Theres all kinds of convertors out there if you look hard enough on goggle.
