Wireless network woes

Just recently set up a wireless network in my house, encompassing my comp and my dad's laptop(using an external USB WLAN card). They can ping each other, Internet connection's shared fine, etc.

Problem? The comps won't talk to each other. My XP machine can see my dad's 2000Pro machine, but not vice-versa(2000 laptop claims that either the list of servers for the workgroup isn't available, or that it just can't find the network path). Workgroup names are identical, and all.

To add to that, my dad's connection only works under an admin account! Power User or just User accounts show a connected LAN, but can't use the internet, nor identify themselves on the workgroup(never mind pinging).

Help? Anyone? Yes, it's embarrassing to manage to screw up wizards and a few text boxes, but what can I say?

Windows builtin firewall perhaps?

Well, it was Kerio, but yeah. Oops. Thanks.

EDIT: Second problem still exists, though. Settings seem to be user-specific, which makes no sense.
