Sylpheed questions

After trying the FAQ, the manual and Google, I turn to you people 
I'm using the Windows version of Sylpheed and it's great, except for two minor problems :
* I can't get it to minimize to the systray (or whatever the name of the icon box in the bottom-right corner of the screen is this week). Am I just missing the setting in the menu or is it impossible ?
* I'd like to be notified of new mail when it arrives, but there's no built-in notification system. I've bypassed this at the moment by setting a simple batchfile to run when new messages arrive and spit out a command prompt window with a new mail message, but it's far from elegant. Is there a pop-up plugin or modification that I missed ?
It just seems weird they didn't include those two things.
