Wii NES games, what will you buy?

Post by Equinox2003 »

Do you plan to buy any NES N64 etc games on the Wii?
If you are, list them and yoru reasons, if you don't plan to list your
reasons for that as well.

I plan to buy circa 20 of them, maybe more depending on the price.

Mike Tyson's Punch Out: This was the big game at one point, I always liked it. How long did it take you to beat Tyson?

The Legend of Zelda, Air Fortress, the old TecmoBowl games, Most of
the Mario games (NOT Dr. Mario) Top Gun, RoboCop v Terminator,(wait, was that even NES?)
FF1, Bases Loaded, Spy v Spy, Rad Racer series, and several others.
How about you?

Why do you insert linebreaks manually? Do you want to be more like Shep? Serious question.

Anyway, I want NES stuff like Faxanadu, the Zeldas and Snake, Rattle and Roll. That game was like crack. And Excitebike. Of course, I'm not paying US$5 for ANY of these games.

I don't think I'll get many SNES games, aside from Zelda and SMW.

Since no Rare games, the N64 is going to be pretty dead too. Shame, really. I *HATE* the 64 Zelda games, so they can fuck off and die with their stupid flying hintbook bullshit. AND DIE.

This seems a bit pointless being so early and without any hint of the actual lists of classic VC releases.

The linebreak thing also puzzles me, since I've seen it done by a couple more people...

True it does seem early, but I was just wondering. Reading the other
thread got me to thinking about it.

Line breaks? Just a habit I have.

Well guess what - not only does the board wrap text, some people have staggeringly large monitors and your text fits on the left third. At least put a bigass picture on the right of your posts!

I'd like to know where you picked up the habit. Are there boards that don't wordwrap? Is it from IRC posting? Is it supposed to be 'polite'?

This is odd.....just the other day somebody highlighted a whole post of
mine and wanted to know why all my posts had "that weird format"
I have no idea what they meant. My posts look normal to me, (other
than that line break thing) my posts look normal on my screen, I have
no idea what people are talking about.

Are you pressing the Return key whenever you get to the edge of the screen?

Of course he is. His text probably extends across the quickpost box. His monitor must be too crap to show him the difference between his truncated lines and our wrapped text, whereas on my monitor he's got almost a foot to go. :)

Equinox, just stop pressing return. Only use return to add paragraph spacing, the board will wordwrap automatically. As you've discovered, it's the fucking annoying satan bullshit stupid when you're quoting someone and they've got carriage returns all over the show. :)

I intend to just scroll through the list once I have a Wii and start buying stuff :) Never played a console Kirby game other than Kirby 64- I have only the GameBoy Dream Land games.

Wow, this got way off topic quick. As per the OP, if I end up getting a Wii, the choices are pretty simple: Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario Bros, Super Mario World, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Mario 64, Dr. Mario, The Legend of Zelda, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Perfect Dark, Rogue Squadron, Podracer, Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Country 2, Earthbound, Super Smash Brothers, ActRaiser, any Castlemanias (I honestly don't know which is on what), any more that catch my eye. Of course, this list is contingent upon a large number of factors, such as the game actually being on the list, and me having enough spare money to buy them, and me even getting a Wii.

Perfect Dark won't be included, due to a whole rights issue with Rare and Microsoft.

Also, the series is called Castlevania.

You know, some part of my brain knew both of those little facts. Still not sure why I wrote Castlemania...

River City Ransom with on-line play and voice-chat would more than earn my five dollars, but I can't think there'd much else NES-wise that I'd be really interested in (we've still got all the NES carts of all the old titles we were interested in).
This has been another blunder by you friendly local idiot.

I'll definitely get all of the Mario games and the Yoshi spin-offs. Donkey Kong, Zelda, and Final Fantasy.

My brother will probably buy a ton of classic games being the spender that he is.

What immediately comes to mind for me is Double Dragon. *sigh* My bro and I would always play that game back then and I always died quickly but it was still fun.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Since it's not a first party Nintendo title, and has already been re-released on other consoles, I'd be surprised if Nintendo offered the Final Fantasy series as a downloadable option.

Yeah, like they'll sell you a Final Fantasy game for $5 when they can rerelease it on the GBA for $30...

(and yet I still keep buying the fuckers...)

Anyway, I'll do what I do on Live Arcade, pick up anything that tickles my fancy.

Sorry Stark, but Snake, Rattle and Roll is a Rare game. Or, wait, are Rare's NES games going to be for sale?

If they allow online play for the games, then stuff like River City Ransom, Kirby Superstar, and Contra should be good. I'll probably get the MegaMan games, too, since I lost my copy of Anniversary Collection *grumble grumble*. And if it's available, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood will be on my list, because I have to try that at least once.

If it wasn't developed by Nintendo, then it's not exactly a first party Nintendo title. So don't expect it to be on there. :P

Smash Brothers, Super Metroid, Castlevania 64 and Lylat Wars. That'd be pretty much all I'm intrested in, to be honest.

Why would you want the old Smash Bros? I've played the 64 and GC ones, and the GC one is universally better.
