I played NOLF2 for hours yesterday, and now it crashes all over the place when I try to start/load a game. What the fuck is that? Nothing's changed, and now the game is so much dead weight. BAH.

Switch back to an ooold set of video card drivers? NOLF2 used a pretty old engine, and a custom one at that.

Gah. Now neither NOLF or NOLF2 work. I played NOLF2 yesterday far enough to get most of the way through the Siberian mission, darting between levelbits all the time. Now it crashes as soon as I start/load a game with a clientmfc error.

Bean, it already worked yesterday for ages. But I went to bed, and now I've got the apparently famous 'clientmfc crash'. And it was such a cool game.

DO YOU HEAR ME? A cool game! I am damned forever to the forbidden zone. :(

It's randomly working again. The fix on the forums? Reboot. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Crazy shit.

What's WIERDER? Remove the level load-zones, and you've got a game that's still good these days. I've actually taken to walking around crying 'SNAKE!!!!' and 'zomg scary girl' and 'wow Halo2 had guys that hide behind corners and kick over tables wow'. It's really quite shocking how good the game is, for a hybrid sneaker/shooter from 2002. Props to ando for getting me to dig it out again! :)

NOLF and NOLF2 are still impressive today, I think. The graphics are, of course, dated, but the firefights are exciting, the environment is as interactable as a game from that era can be. People fall down stairs or off balconies when you shoot them (this was way before rag-doll physics, so it was all custom animations). The voice acting was beyond superb, the story was excellent, the characters and missions were fun and imaginitive. It had driveable vehicles before Halo or Operation Flashpoint came out. NOLF2 isn't quite as good as the first one, but it's still a classic. I'd definitely rank NOLF as one of the top ten greatest games of all time. Anyone who's reading this that hasn't played the NOLF games, run to eBay immediately and get yourself a copy.

There's a mod in production for Nolf2 that will have you play through a new story as Isako, the female ninja.

Don't forget the groovy soundtrack, which even comes with the game.
