Groan! Another WWII game period! Let alone a RTS game.

But wait I say! A game in multiplayer Beta(Private/Public, only Fileplanet subscribers can play) A game with three sides, The Germans(Duur) The American/British... and the Soviets!
This game is notable for having a wide varity of neat touchs

This is zany Red Alert style WWII btw. Which means while there ARE B-17's and Shermans and T-34's and Tiger tanks... there are ALSO American Earthquake bombs which not only devstate buildings but render the land under them unusable. German Mech's and the more "zany" of their airplanes. Soviet Super Heavies, and Kommisars of kourse. And of course nukes are present if in a tone downed tac nuke form form.

Resource gathering is minimal, money makes the game go round, in addition the Russians need power for their buildings while the American's are self relent. However the American's crap is MUCH more expensive so while the Russians can do with one or two mines/oilfields and what-not, the Americans MUST secure the resource points.

First off the gameplay is a mix of classic TA style de-centerilised play, with many Starcraft style additions. Bases are CHEAP, the only thing you use your starting base for is research. Starting money is high enough you can start expanding right off the bat. I did not get a chance to play with the Germans but the Soviets used combat engineers as their builder, they are very cheap but build slowly and are weak. However because they are so cheap you can easily build four or five and have them all busy at the same time, Plus they defend themselves and can set anti-tank explosives. The american Bulldoze on the other hand builds faster, is more expensive and is defenseless.

The Soviets get much better infantry(Inculding anti-tank in molotov's and detpack infantry) and a larger varity. But Soviets snipers are special units while the Americans can quickly get their springfield snipers.
The earily game is the soviets, they control the ground with mixed infantry, while the Americans dominate the late game with as mentioned B-17 bombing hordes.

Now onto the real meat of the game how it plays.
Acutaly its kinda fun from what I've seen. As the soviets I want to rush up my tech tree to make my infantry even more kickass(And give my Commisars the excute traitor option along with the double agent abilty which lets me turn enemy units friendly with a LONG cooldown) I do however want to be on the constant offensive since my units are better suited for it.

A note however, Zerg rushs simply don't happen in this game, you will not end a game in under five minutes. Simply put, the maps are to BIG. By the time the infantry can WALK there from your starting point to theirs, they should already be at the tank stage of building. Tank rushs are possible as long as you can keep the enemy airplanes off your back. IL-2's and P-38's will eat tank coloums for breakfast if caught in the open.

The American side plays much more diffrently. Normaly you rush your building units forward, lay down a defensive line the enemy must fight through and build up your tech tree to get your airwar going. Of course your superweapons are alll on timers while the Soviets simply have big badarse units
(Inculding the infamous super KV tank, with the three seperate turrets and the 155mm main-gun that would have been around twenty feet long except it never existed because it was a post war fake)

The Gimics
First person view
Simply put you can hop in any defensive position and go into First person view ala your typical FPS shooting. Even been frustrated that the turret was simply letting the artillery nuke it even though it was in visual range, but because it was beyond "detection" range, even if the thing was in plain sight just over 200m's away? Well forget that! Now artillery acutal has to BE beyond visual range or firing from behind a building. Otherwise a smart commander can simply hop in his 88 anti-tank gun and blow that Priest apart.

Heros
Think Warcraft III's Hero's except they gain rank like C&C Red Alert II's units. However they all have the same kinds of special abilites and they can "mount" any vechical type to improve it. The American's are a sapper(Improves all explosives), a spy(Invisble, distracts and kills) and a artilleryman (improves all vechicals range, firing rate and damage)

The soviets meanwhile get the Wolfestiein prisoner complete with chaingun, a Russian female sniper who's freken DEADLY think Jarmen Kell from C&C Generals, but diffrent, while she can't snipe tank drivers, she can kill their commanders(When they de-button) she can kill infantry like no one's business, and she sets explosives you can acutal set the TIME for. I've succesfuly set half a dozen buildings to blow at the exact same moment, even leaving time for her to sneak out. And of course a Russian tanking general who lets you have that T-34 horde you always wanted to kick just as much ass as it looks like it should.

Graphicly, the game is pretty enough, at least C&C Generals good terrain wise, with all the units looking much better than C&C Generals ever did.

Overall? Wait and see, a nice gimic, hero's which, while they die VERY easily.. they do ALOT of damage when they are alive.
