Hey, did anyone try the "free" trial version of World of Warcraft? My friend wanted me to download it and use it to try it (and I really am not a fan of the game, so I don't know much about it).

Is it worth the free ten day trial? It's also not very specific in what that ten day trial entails, so is anyone more knowledgeable about it? Do you autocharge you after the then day free trial or do they just cut you off untill you buy (which is optional)?

Also, they got this weird "name" rule for characters in which you cannot have a "rank" in your name. Anyone know why?

If you are just going to get into MMORPGs casually, WoW is the way to go. Guild Wars is another viable option for a casual MMORPG, and it has no monthly fee. If you want a more in-depth experience and a better game, though, you should look elsewhere.

Well, "worth it" sort of depends. You aren't going to be getting into the meat of the game in 10 days, and the first 10 days are NOTHING like the rest of the game. Be careful, and don't go in thinking that the entire game will be like that free trial. It gets staggeringly boring at times, especially when you start the Stranglethorn grinding and the almighty 54-60 grind. And then there is the endless boredom once you get 60 and full epics. *shudder*

That's because there are in-game ranks for PvPers. They don't want overlaps or rank impersonators.

Demo accounts are limited on some things

So you can only use what items you get from quests/drops, and can't talk in general/lfg/trade channels, but /say /whisper and private channels work.

I think that the "no rank on name" is byproduct of having only one name (can't have spaces on names) and the fact that you get ranks by pvp.

It shouldn't charge anything, since you will need "account key" before you can upgrade to full account and continue playing. (Or just create new account if you do not want to continue with you test chars.)

I'll say just try. Costs nothing, and the limitations are not _that_ bad for low lvl char...

They were institued because gold farmers were using demo accounts for their activities. As it is, demo accounts are pretty much isolated from the economy (those max 10 gold aren't going to do much to affect the economy where that can be earned by a high level character in half an hour to an hour).

There has been some amount of lvl 1 people running between Org ah and bank /say ing gold ads... Didn't thought about them being in demo accos before. /ignore works, but can be removed from there soon as those accos do not last long.

Also: If you get group invite from unknown person without any conversations before, and the person in question is very low lvl, it is likely to be goldseller trying to use /party -chat for advertising. Their names also tend to be "messy".
