XP Home ed help

Ok I have windows XP home edition and when I try to access the extended services I get an error message. It says my security settings prohibit active and may not be displayed correctly. When I hit ok the screen is blank.
I tried to check my local user and group settings but when I try through the mmc snap in it says that home edition doesn't support that. The group settings on the control panal only lets me create new accounts and change passwords. It does not let me set privilages even though I am on my admin account.
Of course every way I know of is for win 2000 or xp professional.
So any ideas?
