Can't Install Red Alert on Win XP! =(

What? It's a classic. >.>

Anyways, I inquired about this at my forum a few days ago:
I own the Red Alert Domination Pack, the complete collection of a classic game that was once a best seller. I didn't purchase it since it was given to me by a friend of mine. The problem is, since it will only work on Win 95, 98, or ME, and since I'm using XP, I cannot install it. Is there a way around this that doesn't involve making a radical change or dishing out lots of cash?
I received the following response from one of my members:
You could try setting the compatibility of the setup program to win98. I believe it is done by right clicking on the setup program in the disc then choosing Properties then under the Compatibility tab check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" checkbox then choose win98. Hope this helps.
Doing this enabled the game to install, but not to play. The error I receive is "RA95.EXE - Entry Point Not Found" (in the header) & "The procedure entry point SMapLS_IP_EBP_12 could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll." (in the error box's message body).

I have kept the CD in decent condition (within a jewel case, unexposed to heat and dust) after I installed it successfully and without problem when I was still using Windows ME (Yuck). It worked when I upgraded, too, if memory serves. . . but I now have a new computer (in replacement of that old one, which pretty much died), which is why I have to reinstall it.

Stark: Perhaps I simply live in a cave without realizing it, but I have no knowledge regarding "doxbox" or "that dvd with all C&C games". I'd really like more information on those two (especially the second). I tried my own searching, but they weren't fruitful.

Executor32: Much thanks. Upon executing instruction #4, I was met with many errors, but installation managed to continue, so I managed to move on to the rest. The game works now. I assume I'll have to be changing the executable files for the other three Red Alert CDs, but it's a small, one-time nuisance, so I don't mind.

C&C: The First Decade. Almost every Command and Conquer game (a couple of insignificant pieces of crap were left out) for ~$40, all on one XP friendly disc. This thing is a must have.

Or you could use MS Virtual PC (now free) with a virtual machine of one of the earlier windows versions (non-free, but if you've owned computers for any length of time one should be floting around somewhere). It's actualy has very good compatibility for 2d (or non-accelerated 3d) games. I use it to play WH: Dark Omen, WH40k: Chaos Gate, MW2 etc. (all games that don't work right or at all on XP).

Sorry about the confusion: DDG linked to C&C: the First Decade (which has XP-friendly versions of all the games), and Dosbox is a DOS vm used to play older games.
