Seems to work for me.
On Ubuntu, I just added the deb-src line for Edgy and recompiled the makedev and fuse packages, then installed it using stow after editing a few makefiles to allow this. Symlink ntfs-3g to mount.ntfs to allow automounting by nautilus for external drives, and for use by fstab.

Finally, everyone on non-trivial hardware can ditch FAT32. Horrible shit

Wonder if this will be ported to OS X soon? I was planning to partition a chunk of the hard drive to FAT32 once I get that iMac I'm planning on, but if someone can get OS X to write to NTFS I'd much ratehr use that.

The rumour mill is that this may be included in OS X 10.5

Yay rumors.

Anyway, I'm very glad this has finally been done- it was always my biggest trouble when running Linux.

They've already got it running in FreeBSD's userland. OS X won't be far behind.

FUSE is pretty useful for other things too, like SSHFS

About time. I'm sick of ripping MP3s from my CD collection to use on my computer in Linux, and then having to copy them to a network drive if I want to see them from Windows because I can't just write them to the NTFS partition.

PS. Yes, I rip MP3s from CDs that I legally own, for my own use. That's totally legal.

We'll let the Directorate of Music Copyright Affairs determine that.
