MegaMan ZX- the pinnacle of 2D platforming?

The more I see of this game, the better it gets. I almost cried when the first video footage of the game came out showing Zero and X together again with the four guardians from the Zero series as playable characters and gameplay based on the awesome MegaMan Zero games... I got to play it at E3, which was awesome...but it just keeps getting better and better.
Click here for an awesome gameplay montage.
Incredibly Cool-loooking Boss Fight
The MegaMan Zero series were my favorite platformers on the GameBoy Advance, easily crushing Sonic. This looks like Zero on steroids- special effects from the DS hardware everywhere, with all the major villains (excepting of course Weil) from the Zero series playable (the four guardians were not evil, and genuinely concerned with humanity, their methods were just wrong and they were manipulated by Weil and Copy X), six characters (Zero, X, and the four: Harpuia, Fefnir, Phantom, and Leviathan) with COMPLETELY different playing styles, a Metroid Fusion-esque feel with a large overworld leading into the different missions, etc...
On top of that, we learned just before E3 that the entire game would be voice acted.
On the Nintendo DS. Well, now it turns out that the game has anime cutscenes throughout as well, in addition to voice acting throughout (including seperate voices and different storylines depending on whether you choose to play as Van or Aeile).
Watch the 3rd video (bottom left) to see a full cutscene as it appears on the DS. Wow, just wow.

The top two videos there show him playing against the first boss and playing through the first stage with only the X form.
Anyone else very excited about this game?

My last encounter with Megaman was X4, which was quite enjoyable, especially played as Zero.
The Zero series never really caught my eye, mostly because I didn't have a GBA, but this one looks interesting. Not a game I'd buy a DS for, but since I already have one it may be worth picking up. I do like a good 2D jump and slash game.
One thing, though. I worry a bit about the English voices. While Capcom can make great voices in English they have also butchered the English voices on several occasions. Like the mentioned X4.
There's a lock-on bonus if you have Zero 3 or Zero 4 for this game, by the way. I won't spoil it, but have the Zero 3/4 GBA game in the DS with this one and you'll get a little something.

My inner Metroid fanwhore bristles at the suggestion that something other than Metroid is the pinnacle of 2D platformers. However, if ZX is anything remotely like X, it will be absolutely glorious.
The only thing is, do your shots go through walls like in X-X5?

Nope.
And you have a point there. I
Metroid Fusion.

Isn´t Phantom - or Zero dead in the Z series?

Absolutely. A blend of the Metroid and Mega Man aesthetics? WINNER!
I also like how despite the fact that the villain got pegged early, he nevertheless manages to surprise the player several times.

By the end of Zero 4, Phantom, Zero, and X are all dead. But you also have to remember that they are machines...
The main characters of MegaMan ZX, the boy Van and girl Aeile, find these devices that contain the memories of X and Zero, and have the ability to take on their form. So X and Zero are still around, but only their memories, not their bodies.
Absolutely. A blend of the Metroid and Mega Man aesthetics? WINNER!
Well, I knew you would, just look at your avatar

Zero's died twice before, three times if you count the body switch he goes through between the X and Z eras. Hasn't stopped him before.
Do the characters actually change form, or are they simply wearing power armor?

I know, but the MMZ4 ending made it seem like he had died for good.
Yeah, right...

The ending of MMZ3 made it seem like X had died for good.
MMZ3 established a 'cyberworld' with the memories of destroyed reploids. I almost immediately knew that was a way to bring back X and Zero. They already brought back Phantom that way- he was a hidden boss if you travelled through the cyberworld and found the hidden door on the second-to-last stage, and talked to you about the cyberworld. Even though he died in MMZ1.
Do the characters actually change form, or are they simply wearing power armor?
Change form- they combine with these crystals containing the memories of X, Zero, Harpuia, Fefnir, Leviathan, and Phantom. You can hold down a button and press left or right to switch between whose form you are using at any time in game.

Seriously, this looks awesome. I loved the MMZ games.

That actually does look pretty cool. I still prefer Fusion, but it looks good.
However, I have a nasty creeping feeling that they kept the goddamn "Cyber-elves" from the Z series...

Throw in some Gunstar Heroes and Metal Slug, and you have a deal.
