How many of you are blogging?

Post by Comosicus »

Blogging has become one of the most widely spread activity on the Internet these days. With sites like Blogger, MySpace, My.Opera and many other, Every Joe and Jane can have a place where they can write anything about everything. Of course, some more 'serious' bloggers have their own blogging system (like Wordpress) on their own site and there are entire sites that are just one big blog. Some do it for fun, other do it for business (blogs are a great tool for building a community around a business site). So why do you do it, if you do it at all?

I have recently started my own blog on Blogger: Comosicus.ro. The main reason that made me do it is that I want to learn to write. This means in fact writing for the web, writing for a bunch on unknown people that come to your site, read the nonsense (and hopefully the interesting things) that you put there and amybe give you some feedback.

Given the fact that in the autumn I'll be starting my own design studio (and build a small comunity around it), a blog will be a very necessary part of the site. But to keep a business related blog I will need a lot of practice in writing for blogs, so this little baby from Blogger will be my training ground, my dojo where I will master my blog-fu.

So who else around here is blogging? We know Mike does, as his blog is visible from his personal page, but what about the other? As far as I'm concerned I would like to have the links to your blogs too, as this would give me (and hopefully to other) the oportunity to see a bit more about people around here.

I have a livejournal on which I irregularly indulge myself in expressions of angst.

I used to update the news page on my lil' art site with what I had been up to for the week. What few problems were going on in my life or things I had issues with I didn't write about; I kept it almost entirely to my art projects because drama-queening my troubles onto the internet would just look silly.

Then I shifted my freetime onto model-building and have been leaving the site a little more than bare. I should probably just pop on a new page for my model-related photos and art and just update the news with its updates.

I used to have a blog on Livejournal that I used for something like a year and a half, making entries every two days or so, but then stopped updating.

my deviantART account has a journal function, and I occasionally use that, though not really in much real depth (in two years I've only made fourteen entries). I might use it in a little greater capacity in the future, like when I get a bit more exposure.

I'm currently setting up a website that I'm considering using as a blog.

www.scyte.net - The ravings of a madman. :P
Marcus Aurelius: ...the Swedish S-tank; the exception is made mostly because the Swedes insisted really hard that it is a tank rather than a tank destroyer or assault gun
Ilya Muromets: And now I have this image of a massive, stern-looking Swede staring down a bunch of military nerds. "It's a tank." "Uh, yes Sir. Please don't hurt us."

No thank you!
Why should I post my personel experiences on the internet to share it with everybody out there? I have a wife and a couple of friends to talk to. They give me a feedback. And there are things that should remain private

Why indeed I do have a blog.
Sadly, it is rarely updated, although I used to do movie reviews on there. I would do them still, but I rarely watch new movies in theatres anymore.

I could use my site as a blog if I wanted to. I don't want to though, because I figured no-one would care. But maybe people do...

Yes I do but I use it rarely. It's in swedish, translated to english it would be called something like "Captain Haddocks drunken ramblings"

I whine and muse to my friends, not random strangers. No need to bother someone I don't even know.

Tried it for a little while - found it rather strange and a little tedious so gave up. Not one to keep a journal or anything, and certainly not about to put my innermost thoughts on the web, and don't have the motivation to comment on news situations etc. Anyone who wants to know my opinion can ask for it, same as everyone else does.

I have a blog dedicated to poetry craft, writing and occassional reading lists. It's used primarily to share news, workshops found, articles about poetry, and to get some feedback on drafts. I try to keep topics not related to writing off of it, but a couple of idle rants have crept in. But nothing ever personal or related to work, because one never knows who might be reading.

I've made a couple of friends through blogging, and even manage to get in touch with my local community of poets through it. So, blogging served me well.

Blogger is alright for the basic blogger, but formatting and customising the template can be a pain.
