Now, at least, the thread is aptly named.

I'm starting to wonder if everyone is still as keen for this game as the rest of us. Tobor I'm sure would love to get some turns in before he's out of town again!

I'm still into it.

I still enjoy it, much more so than Adamant (though that's partially my own fault).

Can we go with Dalton's last turn? I don't think he's going to do his.

I'd have to agree with Guppy. I mean i wouldn't have thought it too much trouble to get at least 2 turns done in my two weeks off, but then again...

I didn't even think of that. Yes, I'll use the turn he already submitted.

Still throws the error. It could be a million things that are causing it, and without Capnq helping us there's no way we can figure it out. Sorry Tobor, but we're just going to have to go ahead. I hope you clicked the "AI should not make changes" box.

Let the AI do it, I don't care. My game is fucked anyway and I have had precious little opportunity lately to do anything.

Well here goes nothing. LEts see what happened. Reserves right for - zomg retarded post at a later date.

Anyway, I get the impression this game is about to be decided soon. I was hoping to form an alliance, but no one seems to be going for it, and me alone vs. the Minbari and both Ancient races is a sick joke.

So are you done with this game then, Dalton? If so, you should surrender to someone or withdraw.

Sorry, I've been rather busy lately. I won't be able to get to my turn for a while yet. Also, surrender doesn't appear to be an option.

Well the thing is everybody's playing ICly. It's not like the Minbari will attack the Brakiri with a 1000 ship armada (holy shit 1000 ships!) unless you piss her off heh heh.

Never fear Marxis is here. And he's got a new plan in the works.

Btw U235 I really like your Thunderbolts and Javelins. Somehow you resisted the urge to have Mk. I - X type of fighters and took your time to get maximum missile and beam tech for your fighters and you've got a really clean sensible ship progression and design. I really like the 70 damage missiles and in the beginning of the game way back when I was thinking of going fighters with Raiders but when I found out they had no missiles I changed my mind. Since fighters have 0 maintainence you could build up hundreds of thousands of them :P.

And Trogdor your Krakens and Maximus are unbeatable. 1k 20 ranged weapons holy cow. Centauri have almost as good technology as Minbari.

Yeah, fighters need missiles in order to be able to scratch capital ships with decent armor, and even then once they've shot their load they're just decoys.

It wasn't too hard to resist the urge. Upgraded fighter designs mean I have to somehow get the fighters out to the carriers, which is a big enough pain in the ass as is. Easier to just use one set of current designs fleet-wide, then wait for a Big Leap before upgrading.

Funny thing is that prior to the tweak mod, I was planning on mothballing/scrapping the carrier force since it would have been slow shit compared to the Omega baseships. Now that those carriers are one upgrade away from being able to match pace with the Omegas, I'm actually planning on keeping them in the fleet.

It wasn't too hard to resist the urge.
I had to go through dozens of ship designs, tens of thousands of mouse clicks and my ship naming scheme didn't make sense at all. And then... the ships end up being sold to goddamn aliens or, scrapped. If I'd known I would've waited to get planet killer until making a single one. Or at least super dreadnaught.

Yes, fighters are useless without missiles. The annoying part about carriers is unless you have high enough level of launch bays they throw fighters out in small groups. And you've got to have enough fighter bays to launch in groups of fifty (the maximum I think) and change their strategy to launch in groups of fifty, but you know that already right :).

You might want to take a look at the Minbari uber-fighters. I think they've got two pieces of heavy armor and a stack of 50 fighters might have enough armor to take capital ship shots. Minbari fighters definitely have space superiority in terms of fighters. And Minbari ships too. And Vorlon and Shadow ships can now kill with five to one odds apparently, but the most powerful weapons can't target fighters I think heh heh. Only the Brakiri and me have main ship weapons that can hit fighters I think.

I was thinking of making a huge "hub" like I did in ST with only one way to my space and a large/huge planet full of cargo facilities and fighters in the same sector with the wormholes. But then the damn planet kept launching fighters in groups of 10 instead of 50, and my fighters are shit and my weapons platforms are shit and it would've taken forever.

If you launch during the turn instead of in combat you could build up a very large wing of tens of thousands of fighters (instead of just a measly 50 fighters) assuming you launch them from a planet and it'd be one huge uber fighter group of doom. If the fighters have armor... the fighter group could have hundreds of thousands of armor. It'd be purely defensive of course. Also I noticed that with units leaky armor doesn't matter and you could put in "light armor" and it's got more armor per kT than heavy armor. It ramps up the price to have 7 pieces of light armors instead of 1 piece of heavy armor, but it makes the fighter a lot more durable. If you manage to get larger than 50 wings of fighters, even the beam fighters could be useful. But they'd have to be pretty large wings, like wings of hundreds or thousands, just enough to do enough damage to one-shot kill an enemy ship.

It's possible I think to use this strategy offensively, assuming you power through somebody's wormhole. Power through into their territory and when you do if your carriers survive immediately launch and all the fighters will join together in one huge group of a zillion. I don't know exactly how to do it, but Tuxedo had groups of 300 fighters in ST Mod, definitely groups larger than 50 though.

Light Armor, Uni-Pulse Cannons and Grav engines and cells. 105 hit points. Maybe if you wanted more move points (or less) you could lower the amount of engines.

But the fucking things cost 1000 minerals? Well the point is they don't cost maintainence. But I can only make five a turn from my homeworld. No problem, if you've got 300 shipyards in orbit and they can make six hundred each a turn it's plenty.

So in this version of Battle of the Line, 10000 fighters with over a million hit points in orbit around Earth win, and they don't even need crazy bonehead thetan theories. The key is getting one huge wing of 10000 instead of groups of fifty since the weapons stack so the puny uni-pulse cannon is one shot of six hundred thousand instead of ten thousand shots of fifty or less.

I can see why Nephtys bought Vorlon ships just to deal with fighters heh heh (she can't shoot fighters with neutron laser). But even with Ancient and Vorlon or Raider ships, a million hit points is a fucking lot.

And fighters have no maintainence. Yes I said that already, but it makes me drool.

I thought it was current...I'll fix it now.

*Edit* Done. Process away.

Yeah. I should have just made one post "The weapons stack dude." instead of writing all that spam :P.

Anyway they do, or else emissive armor would be the death of fighters.

FUCK! "Division by zero". I don't know whose turn is causing the problem, and I don't feel like looking into it right now. I'll check it out later and report what I find.

Same shit as last time. Something in your turn is making the game crash and burn, Tobor. It's either something you're doing, or one of your designs or something. Since it could be a lot of different things, the best way to resolve this is for you to try and figure it out yourself by crunching the turns. The game host pass is kensiko101
