Well I managed to fuck my pc up royally today. My computer boots of of a sata drive, and i have another one attached as storage. I got another harddrive ( an ide one) that had windows installed on it, and plugged it in thinking I could format it in windows for a temporary backup till I get another drive.
Well instead I turn the computer on, log in, and discover that my background has dissapeared, and the ide drive has turned into my c drive and half booted off of it, for lack of a better term.
My regular c drive got turned into the i drive. So i figured, oops, just turn off, and pull out new drive. now it freezes at the login page. it also refuses to boot into safe mode. But if i plug the ide drive back in, it turn on perfectly fine, apart form being totally fucked up from the two installs "merging"
So what did I do, and can I fix this without reinstalling windows?
thanks in advance
2 windows installs merged, need help

Umm....did you set your SATA drive as the first boot device and removed the IDE drive from the bootable device list entirely?
