The multiplayer component of F.E.A.R. has been made available as a free download, and is interoperable with the retail product.

It's a bit under 2 gigabytes, so it's a hefty download.

When I registered for the CD-key, it didn't go through at first; if yours doesn't arrive, try filling out the "I forgot my CD key" form and it should be sent then.

Fuck Sierra.

If you live in Australia you cannot get this. Well, techinically you can, but you have to falsify all the details, because a four digit post-code just ain't acceptable (even though you have a country field to fill out - not to mention alternate languages).

Fuck Sierra.

G2A2 is the newb gun~

Shotgun is the only way to go. And I really dislike that Deadwood map.

The shotgun is nice, but I am quite fond of the burst-fire sniper rifle. Though it seems that everyone's favorite gun is the nail gun (whatever it's real name is).

It's cool, but it's just Deathmatch and capture the flag - Lets see some interesting new game modes, eah?

I hope someone someday actually comes out with a unique shooter game that allows for more than 2 teams in multiplay and has more things than just death match and capture the flag.

Oh wait, I'll just go back to playing the original UT.

Hmm, the unarmed combat is rather interesting. I wasn't really expecting to see rooms full of people slide-tackling and jump-kicking each other.

Why would you do that? The shotgun is far more lethal

Before I spend time on trying to run this, what are the sysreqs?

The thing about FPS games that I've never liked, and may begin to be rectified in the coming years, is that it's really hard to tell what kind of penetration you're getting. I know I can shoot the guy on the other side of this piece of drywall, but would I hit my buddy on the other side? Assuming FF is on, of course. I find that FF:on is a setting that in most games prevents spray-and-pray and nade spamming from making things really lame.

FF is really game-dependent: I hate playing without it (because that's just stupid) but on servers full of fucking cockmonkeys, you don't want to be dodging your own team as well as the enemy.

They probably think most Australians don't have enough bandwidth to download it. Image

Don't bother downloading it unless you have a modern rig. Furthermore, don't turn on "soft" shadows if you have anything less than a monster video card.

That's what always blew me away about FEAR. The game never looked that great and the "soft" shadows are just multiple stencil shadows stacked on top of each other.
