Excerpts follow from a PC gamer report on game marketing convention(MI6)1

...Gamermetrics.com, an IGN run company, sells information about user activity to game publishers, providing details about visitors forum activity, page views, searchs and demo downloads, with analysis of this activity broken down into measurements and parameters that can help marketers fine tune their message to gamers. Something as mundane as clicking on a screenshot or reading a preview article is tracked to forecast future purchesing behavior and to clue marketers in your interests and gauge your response to their promo campaigns
So excactly why should I sign up to either Gamespy or IGN?

They gave Master of Orion 3 a 9.4 rating. What more proof of their uselessness could anyone ask for?

ROFL. IGN is, all things considered, ok. Any game they're reviewed that I've gone on to purchase, I've not been offended by.

So what? This is just marketing information, and this actually something I expect from any website that reviews, discuses or sells products. I'll save my pitchfork for when the hand out my credit card number.

Fileplanet benefits? oh wait, you can buy that alone, no real reason.
