PvP Madness on WoW BGs

And if you understand those acronyms, you really are a geek.

What do you all think of the new PVP BG set up? I'm liking it, because it has cut the time so frickin short, but on the other hand, there seem to be more...words said when you don't know everyone. Lots of "God! Why are you all stupid! This never happened on my server!" etc.

Thoughts?

Overall, I like it.

I've been getting into BG's far quicker than before, being auto added to a group allows for some proper discussion pre-fighting rather than "OMG invite plz!!11"

Definetely this would allow people to go onto PvP more ... Before I often give up Pvp because long waiting time might mean having to choose between continuing the instance run and going to BG. Now I can just dedicate compact time to Pvp.

I gave up on WoW because having to wait hours to PVP was utterly ridiculous when I could, at any time of the day, jump onto a Battlefield 2 server and PVP immediately.

This and the expansion may make WoW PVP more viable.

I haven't played WoW in about a month, and now I want to read about 1.12 changes and check the new expansion talents.

It seems like every time I try to access the WoW site, it's down. Is Blizzard still unable to handle the increased traffic that comes when a bunch of people try to download a patch or when a large announcement occurs?

I play mostly co-operative PVE, but do band occasionally...

My guild has been getting into PVP. I've had a rogue in for a while, and I like the new cross server BGs, as the times are way down. ONly downside is if you go in as a guild group, u wind up fighting the horde PVP monsters from other servers.

In general it's good news for Horde, instant BG games in my battlegroup. Switched to Ally alt in the same battlegroup 15min wait, damn ally breeders :P . Good thing since the new world pvp is garbage.

To be fair, the Silithus World PvP game isn't complete garbage, just a little bit.

I like the cross-server PvP though. It lets you know if you are fighting a PUG or an actual team. If your team sees a bunch of guys all from the same server, it's time to be extra fucking careful and bring your A game..

It's definitely a huge improvement. Waiting times for AB and WSG used to be around an hour on my server, making pvp something of a pain in the ass. Now you get in in less than 15 minutes.

Of course, you still get your ass handed to you by farm teams :) .

I like it - its interesting, its original ... its a little button mashey at times, its cool. I dont like how theres pve and pvp though - if you want pve go play ffXI  - but the fact that you dont lose, exp, money, honor, or virtually anything but take a little eqipment damage yields such a little draw back that the whole game should be pvp. heh, to beat a dead horse i think it makes things way more realistic. but then again i have the nieanderthal attitude to think that i always need to compare penis sizes with everyone ... go figure

So far i've found that it's pretty much ruined my game. The new patch has been implemented half assed as usual and it's killed the latency on the server i play on, Dreanor (EU). Go outside XR and the latency cranks up to easily 5000+. Try and attack a mob and the game freezes, when you wake up you're either dead or a bloody gold farmer has stole your kill. In short Pounder is not a happy bunny and is on the verge of going to EvE online.

Lots of people on a few other forums are whining about it because they happen to be on crap servers that never got anywhere pve wise so they are always up against people with better gear.

To me, the shared BG's thing just looks like server clustering without the added bonus of being able to visit other servers pve zones, shop in the markets or cross server guild.

Besides lower wait times (Still about an hour, since my realm was in the smallest group, with other servers with similar Horde-Alliance population imbalances), I really haven't noticed anything different from before. Horde still wins 3-0 in WSG and Alliance still wins AV without ever really making an effort to be organized.

on Nath our waittimes have increased by about double..

Before the ques were usually almost instant if there were some groups going, now we have to wait about 15-20 min each bg.

gg other servers :P

The Good: My que times as an alliance are down to reasonable levels. I can actually play multiple AVs in a single sitting.

The Bad: Quality of competition is around "Are you wearing Blues and greens?" to "Well....they are mostly from one server....and we are a team, maybe they'll grasp GET THE FLAG........" ten minutes later "Oh look, clean sweep....again.

Literally it lowers my que times so I can play with shittier player, so HK farmers can retain their title until the end of time because AV's allow them this. Well...at least I'm nearing a new pair of pants...either here or fucking Naxx.

That sounds like...fun. Have you considered getting your group to challenge other equally skilled groups on the other side to fights in a pre determined zone outside of the battlegrounds?

Very, very rarely. Sometimes we duke it out in EPL, but usually...nope. Literally raid times get in the way :P ...which figures because that's why both sides have the gear we do.

My fave has been a WSG where it took two mages, a rogue and a priest to take me down while our Pally ran with the flag....I still killed the one mage and the rogue before they finally killed me. We still won but that type of gear difference was embarassing.

Heh, no world pvp and the fact that any gear worth having is super hard to get and gives such a huge advantages in a fight happen to be why I never considered playing WoW after the first few months it was out :/

I asked about challenging fights because it happens all the time in DAoC between 8-mans. Usually there is an unofficial IRC channel for each server and the good groups will all have atleast one person in there while they are running so they can inform enemy groups where they are.

Pretty much the problem with PvP in WoW. It's an afterthought and it shows. A high end guild that can equip it's members with insane level of gear dominates, while people who can only get gear from the PvP field or lower end die.

Sure, the highest end PvP gear compensates....but that takes the time on the level of raiding to achieve.

Be interesting to see, but likely won't happen except on servers with that level of desire or initiative

HA! I knew I still had this vid. Fast forward to about 6 minutes in and you will see a much more impressive act of survival vs many

That's actually the Warrior realm rank 5 ability though. 90% reduction to all damage taken for a short time but cannot attack and movement is snared.
