Any thoughts on who makes the best scanner? Money is a slight concern, size is not. Needs to be for a PC.

For a cheap consumer scanner I'd say you can't go wrong with an HP, they're better then alot of companies in regards to drivers. I've got 2 scanners at my folks place that don't work with XP because 1 has no driver and the other wants $25 for it.

The best cheap scanners in my experience are the $70-$80 Canon LiDE models.
They work well and are powered thru the USB port, so you don't have to worry about plugging in yet another wall wart.
IIRC, the LiDE 60 is about $80 or so.

I've had nothing but trouble with HP scanners. For instance, I had a very expensive vertical scanner from them, and it's suffering multi-layer problems. I was only able to use it for about two months before it had to be sent in for repair. It's still out; they haven't gotten it back to me yet.

My Artec P.O.S scanner I got in middle school is still chugging along nicely, though.

I have a Canon LiDE 30 scanner for about three years now. No problems so far.

I got myself one of those Canon all-in-one machines. Scanner, copier, printer, fax, it also has a slot for a digital camera's memory card. It's very nice and a very good investment, but somehow I don't think you were going for that.

I looked at those today, but I just got a new printer. Before I decided that I should actually try making money drawing... y'know, after 20 years of people telling me to do it.

I can't find any scanners that have the abillity to scan bigger size pages, such as 10 x 15. Any ideas?

Epson makes some very high quality scanners.
