Lego Star Wars II

LSW II:The Original Trilogy is supposed to be released soon and I was wondering if anyone else was thinking about picking it up. I really enjoyed the first game - the art style and the humour more then made up for the complete lack of a challenge. Plus this one has Force-choking and Chewie's armripping move :)

The first game ruled the kasbah, and I'll definately be picking this one up. I've played the demo, and they've seriously improved on the previous game and frankly the design-a-Legoman thing is cool by itself. :)

SEE? I DON'T hate everything :D

Saw a tv spot with the Luke/Vader fight from ESB. Very funny. Couldn't find the one I saw on tv on you tube, but did find this one.

I beat everything in the first, the second looks to be the same but with the OT. Will be getting it with my DVDs.

I picked it up today. It's got a few improvements over the original (Melée attacks, stormtroopers rapelling in from the ceiling and more) and it's still funny and occasionally bizzare.

Imperial Officer is presently my favourite character. He's a classy gent who side-steps blaster fire and uses Queensbury rules boxing for his melée attack.

I couldn't stand the first game. The fixed camera was unbearable.

The camera in the demo has far more movement than the original one. You don't get as many 'walk into the screen' or 'shoot at something you can't see' moments, and it tends to be further away on the areas where you need situational awareness.

And come on: you can build an AT-ST in the middle of Mos Eisley and get Obi-Wan to drive it and school the stormies and riff-raff. :D

I've preordered the DS version. I might get the PS2 version too if the two are significantly different. I didn't have much interest in the first one, but this is a must-have for me.

Having played the demo I can say that Lego Star Wars II is freaking sweet. The first game was very fun despite the minor camera hiccups and the crappy vehicle levels. The second one has a better camera (though still the occasional hiccup) and the vehicles are integrated into the same type of gameplay as the 'on foot' levels. Palpatine's lighting/levitate force attack is freaking awesome. This game combines my three favorite hobbies and it is a great game, what is not to like :D

P.S. The developer is now working on Lego Batman the game. If it is even half as good as Lego Star Wars it will be the best Batman game ever.

Oh, I hope...
Wonder if Lego Superman will make a cameo appearance?

Oh my. The Asteroid Belt level is probably my favourite starfighter one so far. It's.... not exactly the same as the movie version, put it that way. Now, to Dagobah!

Blargh. Unskippable cutscenes! Froms hells heart, I stab at thee!

And what the HELL happened to the backgrounds images? They look TERRIBLE, low res, washed out, and poorly aligned. Just the Tantive IV opening has a giant seam between the two images on the 'pan down' and the blurrly background is just terrible. Console-itis?

And who decided I needed 250,000 to buy my old savegame? Now I'll NEVER get any sleep.

The opening looked fine for me. Maybe your console hates you back with equal vigour?

Heh, I just noticed. Put a stormtrooper helmet on Luke and he starts looking around and then shrugs. Guess that it's hard to see out of lego helmets, too.

And, incidentally, Dagobah is easy to get lost on.

Consoles are teh suck, I'm playing the PC version. Hence my derison at the low-quality backgrounds. :D

So, I was definitely going to get this game, but as a rental, not a purchase, but you guys are slowly changing my mind, it seems.

So, Rental or Purchase worthy?

Well as far as is known, Lego only has the Batman license not any other DC license. So I wouln't coun't on seeing Superman in the Lego Batman game. There is probably at least a year before it will be released though so you never know if Lego will get the full DC license. After all the Batman sets are selling as good as the Star Wars sets from what I have heard.

I love Chewie's melee attack in the trailer. Tear your arms out of their sockets, he will.

Irritatingly, he does it all the time when you're close to the target. It takes ages and he gets shot in the back. :)

Some of the level design is questionable: much of it is easy, like the first game (hello, it's for kids). Some of it is irritatingly hard, particularly in single player where your other characters do nothing and do no damage when the DO shoot people. Whoever thought being forced to fight dozens of stormies, alone, with your own team following you and bodyblocking your shots, was a dingus. The 'hat' system is cool, but in many cases you're supposed to get a hat in an area full of spawning enemies and a team that can't kill them and bodyblocks your own return fire. Hooray!

However, using the save from the first one is excellent. No amount of stormies can stand before a single droideka. :)

"Hat" system? So the hat machines aren't just for fun? O_o

I've not got a demonstration copy, and I'm planning on buying the PC version; with the exception of some bizarre hit-detection problems with lightsabers, it seems even better than the original. And I got enough to unlock my old save after the first three levels ^_^

Put a stormie hat on, and they're stupid enough to open Stormtrooper doors for you.

The Boushh (?) hat come free with thermal detonators, too.
