Steam and Steel: Diplomacy Thread

Welcome to the Steam and Steel diplomacy thread.

Rules

1. You may not post in this thread until you've submitted a nation description and been allotted resources. You do not need to have finished your Order of Battle, however.

2. No shootin', this is for talking only.

3. This is a good time to arrange early trades, seeing as the first thing everyone will be doing at game start is declare their first run of construction- lacking resources to make the construction you desire would be a shame. Any trade agreement made now is assumed to be in effect in time for the first run of construction to start.

Have fun!

Crossroadias Manifest Doctrine

As a Corporate minded nation, Crossroadia seeks, above all, friendly business treaties with any and all nations that wish to enter into a mutually beneficial arrangement of trade of goods.

The ruling class of Crossroadia, The Executive Aristocracy, hopes never to engage in war outside of Economic measures. However they will fearless defend the borders and seas surrounding Crossroadia should they be encroached.

While trade of goods and products are welcomed, Culture is less so. Any citizen visiting from another nation found to practicing missionary work or distributing anti Crossroadia material will be harshly dealt with.

Current Trade agreements involve large sums of Coal being traded to the Nation Valua in exchange for Sulfer. Further a Passenger system has been established to allow Citizens of Crossroadia to visit and attend the Universities of Valua.

Nations seeking their own Navies are invited to visit the large shipyards of Crossroadia and view vessels that may be sold to protect the troubled waters of the far East.

The Habsburg Teritory welcomes all peaceful visitors.

Potential settlers will be interviewed by our immigration officials before given permission to become permanent residents.

We are always interested in aquiring or trading goods like coal, rare metals or sulfur and iron.

Our rainforest is investigated by our scientists together with native inhabitants to find commercially interesting plant or animal specimens.
Coal and sulfur mines are constanty upgraded and the latest improvements added, this is also true for our cotton plantations and spice and silk production facilities.

Railroad networks reduce the travel time within the islands considerably, although bulky goods are still transported by coastal ships. Shipbuilding is ongoing in our dockyards, with the main shipyards at the capital city, Miramare, undergoing a reconstruction process to be able to build even the largest ships, either trade or naval vessels.

Our arms manunfacturer produces heavy and light weapons the best Skoda designer can think of.
The company als has experience in building ships, railroad and other steam engines

But intruders beware, our fleet and army are our shield and sword and will deal with disturbances swiftly and ruthlessly

Another interesting offer - would you seek payment in currency or look to receive trade rights for your work?

Germania is currently interested in securing stable food supplies, and we are willing to trade on our extensive coal and rare metals resources. A nearby trading partner is preferred (*nitram*)

Additionally, Germania is willing to offer coaling and portage rights in the greater Germanian islands.

Is Germania interested in trading coal against silk with Habsburg ?

Portage and coaling rights are also of interest to our merchant fleet and navy, and would be reciprocative.

Thornycroft normally receives payment in Pounds Sterling, but is amenable to receiving payment in materials. The steel to make the ships has to come from somewhere. Excess can be probably find a buyer somewhere, or be used for other projects.

The Lumin government is eager to secure an agreement with Germania, for the purposes of preventing food shortages, and of course, continuing our experimentations with exotic metals and gases. If it please the people of Germania, a surveying team will be delivered along with the first grain shipments to map out potential sites for extraction of these materials.

And of course, in the spirit of promoting peace and goodwill among other enlightened nations, we will be happy to share all civilian technological advancements made possible by this exchange without any of the normal fees.

The Islamic Republic of Oman is willing to discuss trades of sulfur in exchange for opium.
The Gulf between our Nations is wide and vast, such a trade route may be fraught with peril and we would be asking our merchants to embark on a long trip. Nonetheless Sulfar is a product, which we shall be consuming in vast quantities and no doubt will need more of as we grow.

We hope that this offer may remain open in the future.

The Nation of Crossroadia has just built it's first Edselon Battleship with four more in production. Purchase of three of these can be considered, though additional metals and materials would be welcomed to aid in construction.

Consider The six Cruisers to be deliverd upon the Battleships completion.

Cost:
3xBattleships = 840 Points
6xCruisers = 840 Points

Ismail bin Haroun al Katiri, King of Omanis-

In times past, our two great nations have treated each-other with respect. Her Majesty is ever mindful of the sad plight of mussulmen in this battered continent, as evinced by her display of the great Christian virtue of compassion during the course of the sad events which have wracked this land."

She is pleased mightily that the massacres did not extend to your own lands across the sea, but lies awake displaying the very female emotion of worry for your own lands. She has bid me offer the assistance of great Portugal, which even today can call upon the fertile lands of India."

She offers to your august Republic supplies of finest rice and grain, along with good salted meats and even rare delicacies tasted now only by poyltheist Hindoo princes in the deep interior, along with the fruits of Christian industry- raw iron in great quantities."

In exchange, she ask only that you allow Portuguese merchantmen to appropriate quantities of sulfer, which even these fertile coasts lack, along with ammounts of certain uncommon ores and materials which are useful curiosities in the eye of our beloved queen."

I await your reply with great eagerness."

From the desk of Joaquim Augusto Mouzinho de Albuquerque, by the Grace of God Prime Minister to Her Majesty Maria Ana Wadiyar de Braganca, Queen of Portugal, Mysore, and Ceilao, sovereign ruler of Macao and Timor."
