Safe Mode Displays Blank Screen

Short story, I got a nasty spyware infection. I can boot up into normal Windows XP fine, but when I go into Safe Mode to try and clean the shit up, Safe Mode fails to display. I think it's running (since I can hit the power button and it shuts down with some delay), but just not displaying anything to my monitor. Does anybody have any idea how to fix this?
