I really wanted a Mac but nomatter how much I like it I cannot justify the vastly higher prices with OS X. So it looks like I am back in PC-land, therefore i have put together this system:

Code: Select all

Processor: Intel Core 2 E6600 2.4GHZ
Motherboard: ASUS P5B DELUXE/WIFI-AP GBL 8-CH
RAM: 2GB 800MHZ DDR2 NON-ECC CL5 DIMM
Optical: NEC AD-5170-0B DVD-RW 16X
Graphic card: MSI X1900 XT PCIE 256M
Harddrive:SEA BARRACUDA 7200.10 400GB
Sound: CREATIVE X-FI XTREME MUSI

Case: AS-Xplorer Black/Black + 420W / PSU 550W DUAL FAN
Warranty: 2 years
This will total at 2000 dollars, I also need a screena nd I am thinking about a Dell 2407. I believe this will be a computer I can use for a loong time, even for games.

EDIT: Oh and since I'll be staying in PC-land, will this run vista? Not that I care though.

That will run Vista. It will also run OSX. Why don't you run both of them, and be super happy?

I didn't know it could run OS X, I thought OS X on non mactels was still in buggy(and illegal) territory.

At least the MacBook (intel based) Macs don't have any problems I've noticed or heard about with OSX. I don't know about the x86 though.

You might consider a 7900 GTO rather than the x1900xt. As I read it, the 7900 gto is a re-packaged 7900gtx, which should be close to or above the x190xt, and I believe can be had for cheaper.
