In a game or on the net in general. Inspired by a chat convo with SPC Brungardt.
Quake 4: BFGGaming Server No. 2: The other team is all one clan and they're playing Defend the Honor of the Clan on the whole damn server. Holy fuck they played good too, but it was in-fucking-furiating getting my ass wtfpwn3d eight ways to Sunday and handed to me on a platinum dish forty other ways to Sunday within seconds of respawning! Thank god the server was configged with a ten cap limit instead of just 20 minute timer; They could easily have made around fifty caps! It took those motherfuckers _four minutes_ for them to run us through all ten caps, and they did that shit FIVE MAPS IN A ROW! LOL!
The [H] Clan; don't fuck with these guys, they WILL kill you and be all friendly-like about it too! Service with a Smile, I guess

When I used to play Descent II on Kali (way before the days of MMORPGS and such) I was playing against this one guy for over 6 hours, and in the end he had over 150 kills and 0 deaths, whereas my tally was the inverse.

Not too long ago, I was on my Blademaster.
My group got wiped, was a crap pickup group anyways so I had saved charge to escape. I end up having to jump down a cliff to get on my way towards the nearest keep with open port when I get jumped by a Thane (yeah, stupid me not panning).
The guy hit me with a couple of nukes so I ran at him him and he got a block reactional stun off on me then went behind, switched to his two hander and Ragnarok (HIGH damage rear positional style with a huge damage proc), Insta nuke, insta pbae nuke, doomhammer...honestly I think he critted nearly every one because he killed me from ~80% health in two seconds

Playing a game of 8v8 Ghost Recon and scouting an area WAY ahead of my team, I peek out around a corner and see nothing. I step out to sprint to a new bit of cover and suddenly 4 support guys w/MG3s and M249s and the rest of their squad with assault rifles in brilliant cover just absolutely light me up. I could see nothing but tracers and dirt being kicked up.
A game of Defcon recently, for some reason every single other player decided to exclusively target me. There were no alliances or anything happening, I was playing as Europe and just ended up being shit outta luck.

I've seen europe light pretty often, its just an easy target I guess. When three alliances form in a game, you can rest assured that two of them will go after europe

Wells it a good news bad news situation. Good news: your territory is small and easily covered by overlapping ABM shields.
Bad news: your territory is small and city tightly packed, awaiting completely overwhelming attacks that will neutralise your ABM shields by sheer volume of concentrated fire.

Last year. Me and a housemate vs another housemate, Rome:TW city siege.
We expected a conventional defence, deploying his troops on the wall and stuff. Nope, he puts his entire army in the middle of the city (he was carthage or selucid). So we finally break through, getting shot to bits on the way by catapults (he did more damage to the city with friendly fire than we did
) spend ages trying to hack through a couple of close knit phalanxes and just as we do a unit of elephants comes tearing down on our worn out, depleted troops. Total rout.
I had great fun listening to another friend complain about this tactic just a couple of weeks ago.

Perfect timing for this thread! Here's a story from a couple days ago:
BF2 Armored Fury: Operation Harvest. I'm playing as the US, and I'm in the Linebacker. My team had just finished securing the western portion of the map, and we're getting ready to roll over the railroad bridge to attack the MEC bases; the road bridge had been bombed out. With me are two M1A2s (driven by my squadmates) and some infantry on foot. One tank is in front of me, the other behind.
We're getting to ready to cross when two MEC jeeps drive up on to the road bridge and start shooting at our infantry. The two tanks and I open up, killing most of the MEC infantry (about a squads worth). While we were doing this, three T-90s ford the river and form up a V on the road leading down from the Hill Top. The first time we knew they were there was when the the M1 in front of me was lit up by three tank shells, all fired at the same time. Needless to say, the M1 was done. I swung my turret around, but my AA guys not going to do much against tanks. The M1 behind also swung his turret around, and got a shot off, but by then the T-90s had reloaded, and they light his ass up. So now I'm dog food, trying to back through the M1's wreckage, firing for all I'm worth (even the AA missiles in a vain hope they'll hit the tanks).
At this point, three things happen all at once. Our Corba comes in and nails one of the tank on my right with a TV missile. The artillery scores a direct hit on the tank on the left, right as he and the center tank fire, turning my Linebacker into shrapnel.
Ouch!

Everyone has DEFCON stories, but lately, Americas Army.
It was a simple 4V4 match, on a map we're used to playing, Weapons cache, and the enemy just completly shut us down, we were stuck playing 3rd floor, we managed to hold it, but anything else would slaughter us.

5-way 5v5v5v5v5 Gurubashi Arena matches in WoW. We each started equidistant around the circular arena...and I had lead my 5-man REALLY well in an earlier round. Too well. The match starts, and the team to the left of me and the team to the right of me turn and converge. And I don't mean on my team. I mean on me. Personally.

I have had similar experiences. On my Blademaster I am usually the main assist, and since I am a Firbolg I am bigger than everyone else in the group usually (I also dyed my armor yellow for a while but let's forget that ;P ).
Once I got known, I pretty much became the target that the enemy would try to take down first and kept down because the backup MA kinda sucked.
It got so bad that at a few points I had to select and call targets while kiting tank trains

I think my first Q3 tournament was the first time I got totally pwn3d. Went to a local LAN. I was regularly at the top of the score charts for ActionQuake2 and Counterstrike, so I figured I'd be able to do well in the Quake 3 DM tournament.
I was wrong.
So horribly, horribly wrong.
I think I got beat 2-1 in my first match. I was able to hold the upper hand briefly by completely controlling the RL and armour (I can't even remember which map) but all it took was a few bad skirmishes and then he seized that territory from me.

In a game of Axis and Allies, I was playing Russia. Germany and Japan decided to gang bang me and vaped my ass in the first two turns. The Axis were aided greatly by one of the worst streaks of poor dice rolling ever. The German player threw virtually his entire army into his offensive against me, and I maybe killed two of his infantry units during his entire campaign. The Japanese player didn't do quite as well, and lost an armored unit and two infantry. I lost at least 12 infantry, 4 tanks, and 2 fighters. It still is the most one sided campaign I have ever seen in wargaming. I've never seen a power go down that quickly in A&A.
Then, there was the time playing 4-way Golden Eye when one of my friends just decided he was going to start mowing everybody down and railed off 45 straight kills against us, even after we started ganging up to assault him.

Well, we started chewing Gemrnay up from both sides, I turned to Turkey and Russia just kept on chewing all the way to the atlantic...It was terrible.

Sounds like playing against my brother in his heyday. I refused to play against him in Goldeneye for
years because he was so damn good. And it wasn't practice. He was just good. Of course, playing against or even alongside him made me good too. Unfortunately, I've gotten out of practice, since I don't have an Xbox or PS2.

I got the reverse of that; I sent, using good card-turning in timing, a 54-unit group from West Africa to attack Brazil (where my brother had 9 guys). He killed my entire force, only losing 2 guys.

Risk seems to generate a lot of that - I can't count the number of times that somebody, at some point in a Risk game, wanted to just throw the board across the room in frustration and storm out.

This is a long story from waaaaaaay waaaaay back. Like 5-6 years back to the days when Delta Force by Novalogic was a new game. And I was addicted to the online gaming for about 1,5 year. The story happened when I was about an 14 month old veteran, a member of squad of some good ole' boys.
So, I was on a CTF map in a desert. Normal stuff includes M203 mortaring, knifing snipers, hitting moving targets from 800 meters using a Barret (not easy considering the standart 300-400ms lag that was a default then) - all of this wasnt really a problem for me. I didnt consider myself to be the elite, but I definitely was a good player (although I did win most of the 16 player all on all deathmatches with a 30:5 ratio, but thats a different story).
So, Im doing the usual and suddenly a new guy logs in. His name...well, McNab, obviously from Andy McNabb. And I was damn lucky he was on my team...because I have never seen anyone who could wield an M249 SAW like he did. I mean, he was like a machine. Target found *zap* target dead. It was a tracer map so I could see his rounds race half way the map, killing people with headshots from a 500 meter distance WITHOUT a scope (anyone who played DF or any other NV games should know that targets far away are very difficult even to spot because of the game engine). When I finally found my jaw I started talking to this guy and eventually we made friends.
The story follows: one night, when I was in an ICQ chat room with some of my buddies from other squads (and there were some really good gamers there from very good clans) and I notice that my cyborg friend logs in. I decided to invite him in to meet the rest of the gang. After a while of talk, it comes out that this guy is really proficient with a SAW, which meets with some skepticism. I don't remember who suggested the idea of a team deathmatch to see if McNab is as hot as advertised.
So we set up a server, load in and set up the teams. Team 1: Me + about 6-7 other guys. Team 2: McNab. Alone.
And boy, did he hand our assess back to us. For every time we managed to kill the bastard he got every one of us about 2-3 times. The moment I noticed the guy I was already dead and there were dozens of situation when the death just came in "from above". There was a 30 kill limit to win a game and we didnt win a single match. I was so frustrated afterwards I couldnt sleep half of the night.
I suppose you could say that it was because we sucked, but the people I played with usually ended up in the first 5 (out of 32, the player limit back then) places of a pub game on a NV server.
I had my revenge later, when I was hosting a small friendy deathmatch about a week later. I absolutely pwned the guy, but it was mostly because of sheer luck, good M203 reflexes and the fact that I had no lag being the host.
But to this day, no whooping I received from anybody was even close to that thing from 5-6 years ago. Not even on a Counterstrike LAN party with some seasoned player.

Battlefield 2.
10 times I spawned in a row, materlised in someones crosshairs.
I would litearly have my feet touch the ground and be ripped appart by a hail of bullets. Even in 'secure' spawns with plenty of friendlies around, I would just be blown away without anyone bothering to try and find said bad guy.
I called it quits after I spawned into a claymore field....

Battlefield 1942
Map the Battle of Britian.
I was playing as the British and was guarding the leftmost radar tower. I shoot down a Ju88 and soon after I get blown up. I reaspawn as an Assualt and get blown up again. Apparently the pilot of the plane I shot down was an engineer and he basicallly spawn raped me with the detpack until the tower was destroyed. He than repated the manuver on the nearest tower as well. This happened at least 15 times before I lost count.
Needless to say we lost horribly.

Mario Kart DS, as it happens.
Usually when I see someone with over 75% wins or so, I dread the worst. The Mario Kart DS community can be adequately divided by the following statistics.
0% wins - 25% wins
Usually, they're fairly nice people. Usually they've just started playing online.
25%-75%
The normal crowd. Most of the time you don't see problems with them.
75%-100%
99% of the time, these are the snakers, the people who use slideboosts on straightaways repeatedly (creating a snake pattern) to reach otherwise unobtainable speeds. Technically, it's a designed part of the game. It's also annoying as all get out, particularly when you can't catch up to them with mushrooms, boost plates, or stars. They can go through any terrain without any noticeable slowdown, so in my opinion snaking just kills the game.
Probably over half of the community will also disconnect at the earliest sign of something not going their way. Nintendo made the critical error of disconnecting not affecting your win percentage, so they're free to do this as much as the please without suffering at all. GameFAQs has tried to put together a list of disconnectors so that they can be avoided by the community, but it's like fighting a whale with a Nerf gun.
A smaller percentage of the community will also attempt to irritate as many people as possible by drawing offensive avatars, deselecting and reselecting their character on the character selection screen, constantly generating whatever awful sound that character makes when they're chosen.
Now, after reading that, you may wonder why anyone would play Mario Kart online at all. Well, one high-ranked user showed me why I still play, and the main subject of my post.
He was a god at this game, without snaking, even.
Regardless of what I shot at him, I think I may have made contact once. He had the mind-boggling capacity to be able to time dropping bananas or shooting green shells that any inbound projectiles were shot down, with only his radar to indicate when to fire. For you FPS fans, this is approximately equivalent to shooting down an inbound missile consistently.
He was also notoriously consistent with hitting me with green shells when I was behind him (in front was inconceivable.) He still only had the radar to tell him when to fire backwards, yet he still made contact with fair frequency, far more than I ever do.
The thing that was most amazing was when he didn't want me to obtain an item box, so he hit the one on the far right and drifted into the others, leaving none for me. I was floored. I was almost honored to watch him destroy me.

I have a cousin who's like that on Mario Kart DS, and on Mario Kart: Double Dash.
