Wii Controller

The Wii controller seems a bit weird. I mean they have these wonderful position detecting technology but they decided to make the cable between the controller held in the one hand and the controller held in the other hand really short.
No imagine you want to make a FPS in which the right hand is used to control the sword and the left hand is used to control a gun. You can control both weapons at the same time. That would be awesom. But because the cable is so short you won´t be able to do that.

There is a longer cable apparently.

Personally, I will only be using the classic controller, due to physical restraints. And I am sure that a longer cable will be available, as stated in the post above mine.

Ah, ok. This raises another point though. These controlers would be lot cooler if there wasn´t a cable at all. I mean, i don´t mind cables on regular controlers but on controlers i´m going to swing around like an idiot i´d sure want to get rid of all crap that gets in the way or in my field of view.

Not having a cable would, however, necessitate a second battery in the nunchuck, which is currently powered from the main remote.
Remember, as well, that waving the thing around like a loony is an exaggeration, and it can read quite small motions.

The cable is actually about a meter long.

The cable provides power, so you don't need seperate batteries in every accessory you use. Thus, the VC controller and nunchuck can be very lightweight.

I was concerned about that, too, but one of our members who was able to try them out reported that the cable doesn't actually interfere with normal gameplay. Also, the cable does allow them to make the nunchuk part smaller and lighter by removing the battery.

It looks shorter in the picture. I'm inclined to beleive Spanky, but could we get a link either way?

I don't have a link at the moment, but I've read from a number of on-hand reports and seen in demonstration videos that the cable was indeed about a meter in length.

One meter? Shouldn´t it be at least as long as both arms are wide? I want to slash my foes in front of me with the chainsword and at the same time shoot the ones sneaking up behind me with my bolter.

I don't think the motions are going to be that exaggerated.

I wasn't aware they were doing a 40K game for the Wii

The motion sensing capability of the nunchuk probably isn't sophisticated enough for that to work even if the cord was long enough (which would have an annoying amount of slack when the controls are together). You'd need two Remotes for that.

Uhh... yeah, that's not really how it works.
