iPod nano: Buzzing battery?

My friend and I have been considering iPod nanos as gifts for various people this year, but he recently brought something to my attention that I want to see if I can get confirmed; apparently the new Nanos *buzz* when on. From what I've read, Apple doesn't know the source of this problem and will replace units, but you have to go in blindfolded and hope for a good unit when you buy.
Have anyone heard about this problem? Does it actually exist? What's the consensus from satisfied SDN iPod owners? Yo, Durandal?

Well it looks like Apple's getting into the sex toy business with vibrating iPods...

If I remember, I'll check it out tomorrow.

I'm a satisfied iPod owner (60 GB, 5G video iPod), and my sister is one x2 (she had a 2nd gen iPod for a long time and just recently sold it and bought a black 30 GB 5G video iPod), but I don't know anyone with a Nano. A friend of mine just bought a refurb Nano, so we'll see how her experience goes, but I have had nothing but good experiences with iPods in my family.
I've also had good experiences with Apple's support; despite that I dropped my mother's PowerBook and dented the side, even though I TOLD them I dropped it, they determined that it had warped from heat before I had dropped it and replaced the entire casing (even the damaged part).

I have an iPod nano and it doesn't buzz, been going fairly well too, though it scratches if I so much as breathe on it.
If it's a high-pitched buzzing it's probably the power regulator in there. They tend to have a ferrite core which will cause a high pitched buzz when it vibrates.
I'm not an electrical engineer but we've had a similar problem at where I work. So I think it's called a power regulator. But it's one of the only pieces of electrical kit that can vibrate, resistors, inductors and microcontroller chips don't. We traced it back to a supplier of a contractor supplying shitty components.
It's definately a batch issue, just try and avoid the bad ones is the only thing I can say.

My recently bought iPod nano does not have this buzzing noise. Is your friend refering to the 2 GB, 4 GB, or the 8 GB iPod nanos?

It's the "remastered" 2gb edition. Apparently Apple has heard of this problem, and replaces units that do it, but it was news to me - I've always heard nothing but good things about Apple quality of build.
