It's also fond of enslaving entire species. It's also fond of routine torture. It's also fond of massacring civilians and trying to cover them up. It's also fond of a totalitarian regime. Can I stop now?
Hmm, the first sentence I can't really counter, except for the fact that we never, and I mean never, hear about a Rebel liberation or support mission of any type to aid worlds like Toprawa that suffered from Imperial reprisals.

2nd sentence: Droids

3rd sentence:Allowing KJA to chronicle their histoyr(weak, I know)

4th sentence: Endor

5th Sentence: Hapes

Find a planet with horny tentacle monsters, find some hot chicks, and put the 2 in a cage.

I'd make millions :)

I would be head of a major Corporate fleet, because it wouldn't be military, although most of those under my command would be former military. This way, if my boss said ok, I could go home and vapourize some minor enemies of mine (assuming of course, that my enemies are also in the SW universe, because if they were left behind on Earth, it wouldn't be so bad). Plus, it would feel really good to have a shitload of ships under my command without having to worry about anything other than being fired (because a court martial would suck). I wait for the day when present-day corporations here at home get their own space fleets(maybe just sea-going navies, or air forces...)

So you wouldn't care if the plans to some military secret weapon that could destroy entire continents ended up floating around?
We also are not talking about how the Empire was created in the first place by starting a galaxy-wide war in order to let a single individual rise to power, right? Just making sure. :D
EDIT: Oh wait a minute, we are talking about Palpatine's New Order. Then I can include the fact that he started the galaxy-spanning Clone Wars to merely create the Empire in the first place. So you can add that to the list of Imperial crimes.
By the end of the Yuuzhan Vong crisis (or fiasco, as some might refer to it), it is estimated that there was at least 365 trillion casualties. That's at least 60,833 times the population of Earth. Going by TPM, it is clear that the Old Republic's response to the Yuuzhan Vong crisis would have been almost identical to the New Republic's. In other word: Disaster.
On the other hand, according to the Yuuzhan Vong's expert to the galaxy, the Yuuzhan Vong basically wouldn't have had a chance against the Empire.

Go figure.

I'd be an independent smuggler if I could. Just for the sake of being (somewhat) different. That, and I couldn't handle military service of any kind, nor would I care to join a corporation.
There are two kinds of people in the world: the kind who think it’s perfectly reasonable to strip-search a 13-year-old girl suspected of bringing ibuprofen to school, and the kind who think those people should be kept as far away from children as possible … Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between drug warriors and child molesters.” - Jacob Sullum

I would join either ther Imperial Navy just to see the galaxy and wear the cool officer uniforms or

id do some legal smuggling like taking my personal ship through hyperspace and visiting planets to trade stuff for a company just like that poor soul who could have just turned around since he never went to hyperspace (visably) and he thought he was marrooned in space with only a cyborg droid in the Dark Horse Comic "Tales from Mos Eisley"

If I was in the Empire, you say?

Well, if I was in the Empire, then...

I'd wanna be where the Rebels are!
I'd wanna see, wanna see 'em dying!
Crashing around on those, whadya call 'em? X-wings.

Waving your arms, you don't get too far.
Blasters are required for causin' havoc!
Chasing the Rebels off - What's that place again? Hoth

On Alderaan, on icy planet
On forest moon of Endor
Now they will be
wish we could see their fricassee!
