Endor movies canon status
I'm curious, does anyone know the level of canon status that the two Endor movies (The Battle for Endor and The Ewok Adventure) have?

Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that filmed materials are generally given a higher status than the other EU materials. Of course that might have changed or I might be remembering wrong.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Part of the EU, like the other television properties.
PS: that myan thing is getting annoying.

Yeah, IIRC, the televised material is higher ranking than other EU materials.Stormbringer wrote:Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that filmed materials are generally given a higher status than the other EU materials.

I remember seeing one of those when I was a kid. Did Lucas have any input in them?

Well, the older brother in the first one *did* have a Rebel/Trandoshan style orange flight suit. The weapon was no blaster though.
And he died in the next one. Stupid.

Really? I seem to remember it shooting bolts like other blasters do. (They were yellowish coloured IIRC)The weapon was no blaster though.

The blasters seen in Battle for Endor are notoriously weak (I guess explanable by the run-down found-refurbished nature of the ones held by the primitive bandits), requiring multiple shots to kill normal humans wearing ordinary civilian clothing, and leaving no effect other than sparks and slight discoloration on trees, rocks and civilian starship hulls, more akin to what you'd expect from Trek small arms than SW blasters.

The Endor movies, like Smallville and ENT, must die!

The weapon the older brother used in the first film fired long, single beams like a phaser.

The blasters in "Battle For Endor" (IIRC, watched it a few months ago) were just like the blasters seen in the canon films, except they were a little more dilapidated looking and the shots did only a fraction of the damage to structures and bodies.
Could this be explained by saying they were set to the lowest possible (non-stun) setting in order to save ammo? (since apparently they had no way to recharge them or re-load them)
Though this makes less sense perhaps in the several life and death battles. Why not use a higher setting that kills instead of wounds or that destroys instead of leaving a phaser-like burn mark on stuff?

It could be a civil model which only passingly looks like the military model on light inspection.

In the AOTC visual dictionary their are a few pics of shoddy improvised blasters that were used by a group of moisture farmers who went out to look for Shmi Skywalker after she was captured. As the movie describes they were obviously given an ass fisting by the Sand People largely due to to their weak ass weapons and poor experience.
My guess would be the blasters in the movie are just like this. Just old or improvised low power blasters for light personal defense.
