Balance of the Force
Most people I know that understand SW decently agree that Anakin bought balance to the force by killing the Jedi who were everywhere, however I found one of the SE tapes and he said Anakin bought balance by killing Palpatine, the last of the Sith. He I been wrong all along or is GL a little out of touch with his universe?

No more Jedi Order, no more Sith.
Well...sort of. Then you get EU.

I always looked at it as he closed a circle of action. The Jedi had a balance going in that they preserved the peace and kept the dark side from dominating. As the Jedi became complacent, thats when the force became unbalanced, and the winds of change started to blow. I see the Sith not as the unbalance part of the force, rather the mechinism of change inherent in nature. When Palpitine took over and killed most of the Jedi, the stage was set for a rebirth of a new balancing force to step in and reign in the dark side to complete the change.
When Vader killed Palpitine and he himself died, all of the changes needed to bring balance were completed and Luke was left to start a new order of Jedi to preserve the peace. As allways IMHO.

They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Well my personal view of 'balancing the force' is that neither light nor dark side users unbalance it, it's when people start to draw too much power to themselves like Palpatine did.
Supposedly George Lucas has said the Sith caused the imbalance but I'm getting that from TF.N boards and I can't recall seeing the primary source for that one.

I would go with Knifes read on it.
The old jedi order is becomming too distant from its roots/decadent in it's thought patterns, and so becomming unbalanced. (read: full of themselves, that is overconfident of their ability in tactics, philosofi, diplomacy, ability w. force, purity, ...)
Anakin brings them revitalization through rebirth, on a balanced philosofical playing field as it where.
(Luke has to reinvent the jedi from scratch, without any unbalancing pre-suppositions from the old order)

I agree; The Jedi were no longer 'pure', they were drifting towards the dark side by giving in to pride and arrogance. This sapped their power, and gave the Sith the opportunity to make their move. Anakin brought balance to the force by wiping out both the Jedi AND the Sith.
"Scientists do not join hands every Sunday, singing, "Yes, gravity is real! I will have faith! I will be strong! I believe in my heart that what goes up, up, up must come down, down, down. Amen!" If they did, we would think they were pretty insecure about it."

Yup. The Force was just using Anakin to clean house.
