Imperial Senate

Post by Tychu »

I was just wondering if anyone knew what planets made up the Imperial Senate. The only planet that they talke about is Alderann and we know there are more. Does anyone know if the former members of the old Republic Senate make up all of the Imperial Senate or were there only a selected few?

More then likely the same planets eeing as though the Empire basically just changed the government... but the planets that probably rebelled (in the initial stages of the Empire) were probablt not represented. Obviously the Imperial senate still weilded some power seeing as though the Imperial officers aboard the Tantive IV were worried about sympathy for the Rebellion in the senate.

The top planets would most likely have been: Alderaan, Kuat, Coruscant, Corellia, basically the core worlds spreading out the mid-rim.

As for official literature talking about it, I am not sure.

Try reading some EU... there's this book, damned if I remember the name, but it's where this terrorist guy who's a former student of Luke's blows up the Senate chamber-- there's a lot of planets' Senators named. Since most of the Senators described are aliens, though, I would presume that many of these joined after the NR was formed.

As for number, thousands, easily. Not all planets are represented; most of the Senators represent planetary sectors (for example, Palpatine represented several planets in the vicinity of Naboo as well as Naboo itself) instead of individual planets. There are also representatives of large corporations, ie the Trade Federation-- while many would have died by the time of the Empire due to the Clone Wars, I have no doubt that Kuat, Corellia Engineering Corporation, the Corporate Sector, et al, would've had representatives in the Imperial Senate.
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

Hmm, not mockingly but i read alot of EU ive read 80 novels and have over 120 comics. The book your refering to is The New Rebellion, currently im reading it, the author mentions some of the senators that are from the Old Republic senate, no one so far has been deemed as senators from the Imperial Senate.

I think the Black Fleet Crisis trilogy features former Imperial Senators returned to the New Republic Senate.

Ill have to reread that trilogy, it seems however that the Imperial Senate has to consits of much much less members than the Old and New Republic senates.

Well, that would make sense, considering that a large percentage of the Old Republic/ New Republic's populace would be alien.... with the anti-alien bias supposed to be part of the Imperial philosophy maintained by the EU, i'm not too surprised that the Empire would've had less members in its Senate.

One has to consider, though, that undoubtedly the Empire did a good deal of bureaucratic restructuring-- I wouldn't be too surprised if they cut down on the number of senators, in order to allow a faster legislative process (remember that Palpatine mentions that it'd take at least weeks for the preliminary processes of the bill censuring the Trade Federation in TPM). All new regimes like to propagandize their "streamlined and more efficient" legislatures...

It was having a top heavy senate that brought doen the New Republic. They where so busy arsing arseing and farting about that by the time they realised the vong where a problem the vong had the NRDF on the back foot.

The book where Kuller(sp) blows up the senate is the New Rebellion. Good luck if you want to read that pile of tripe.
