Isn't Hamill under contract for another SW film? If he is, one last film could be done without all that EU nonsense.

In the film, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker is an old man training young Jedi. Han, Leia Chewie and the others are long dead. Maybe R2 and 3PO turn up. The Republic has once again become corrupt and only Luke and his younglings can stop the coup meant to topple the government. This would be a pastiche of The Cowboys, Sanjuro, The Shootist and Robin and Marian. The last hurrah for the GFFA. Maybe Lucas will let Spielberg direct this one as he's been begging to do.

Edited for lousy spelling.

I don't see how he can do it. He wrapped up every loose end so far, or looks to do so in ROTS. These movies would have none of the ties to the other ones, and would just be movies for the sake of being movies: No big myth, no big storyarch, nothing.

Yeah, you'll think overrated when you spend two hours sifting through your registry trying to weed out spyware that autoinstalls where spybot gets hung up on it. Mozilla forever, yo.
I've had problems with spyware but nothing I couldn't handle. It's nothing compared to losing every bookmark. I'm taking steps to prevent it and I still keep FF, but it's definitely overrated.
Star Trek vs. Star Wars, Extralife style.

I wouldn't mind seeing episodes 7-9 if a) someone other than Lucas directs them and b) they do not involve the Yuuzhan Yong in any way, shape or form.

I don't think it can work; just look at all the rubbish the EU had to invent to keep the story going. The only possible good would be to crush the EU forever, but I'd just replace it with something worse.

Why would a sequel trilogy have to feature Luke, Leia, and Han? The prequels don't have them, and don't feature any recurring non-suited actors. The sequels could feature an old man playing Luke and focus on completely new characters.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

Read something Steven Speilberg once said that he was interested in doing a SW film, since he and Lucas are best buddies. Don't know if Lucas would want it.

He says no, but didn't he also say that he wasn't going to release the OT on DVD until they were in a box set with the prequals? Now we see what's going out in Sept. Sooner or later the little Lucaslings will need a new set of ponies or George will want to buy Wheta or something and he'll pull his guaranteed money maker out again. Either that or about 5 to 10 years after he dies one of his kids will allow another movie or even a tv show to be made.
