Vader on Hoth
When Vader enters the rebel base on Hoth looking for Luke, the way it is edited, it seems that he is making a B-line straight after Leia. Could he have felt her presence and mistook it for Luke?

Re: Vader on Hoth
Actually in the movie it seems that he is focussing on getting to the Falcon, it is the ship that he tells the Bounty Hunters that he wants and the ship that Luke is famous for hanging out in. Hence it was a simple matter of him deducing that in a pinch Luke will head for the Falcon to escape.Mark S wrote:When Vader enters the rebel base on Hoth looking for Luke, the way it is edited, it seems that he is making a B-line straight after Leia. He should have previous knowledge of the Falcon as a rebel vessel but in the movie there is no reason that he has to or for him to know Lukes connection with it. He only tells the bounty hunters that he wants the Falcon after seeing it take off, chasing it and losing it. In the past I have typically looked at it as him knowing the Falcon would mostlikely carry Luke but the other notion struck me as I was watching ESB the other night.

I think he does. Its just that Vader in ESB, while not knowing where Luke was, he did know that he saw Leia, Han and co run into the Falcon and fly away. These two people are people that Luke cares enough about to be an effective way of drawing him into a trap. Vader knew Luke wasn't on the ship. he would have sensed that. If not that Leia herself is an important enough target to go after anyway. Also Vader might be after a little payback to Han himself for basically shooting him out of the Death Star Trench. I can think of many reasons that Vader would be after The Millenium Falcon.

That was disapointing ..Should we show this Federation how to build a ship so we may have worthy foes? Typhonis 1

He likely found out from someone at the Mos Eisley Cantina that Luke and Obi-Wan had chartered the Falcon, and after seeing that same ship save Luke's ass at Yavin it would be fairly safe to assume that where he'd find one, he'd find the other.

He wouldnt even need to do that, as he saw the Falcon with his own eyes on the Death Star.Drooling Iguana wrote:He likely found out from someone at the Mos Eisley Cantina that Luke and Obi-Wan had chartered the Falcon, and after seeing that same ship save Luke's ass at Yavin it would be fairly safe to assume that where he'd find one, he'd find the other.

The Falcon is a one of a kind on the scene, there were multiple snowspeeders and X-Wings. While Vader might have been able to sniff out which fighter Luke was in if he got close enough, the blockading destroyers certainly could not.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.
