World Ships

im sorry if this was done before but i was never quite clear on what a worldship was. We see them in alot of Sci-Fi but the term as i know it wasnt used in SW until the Vong.

Since we know that the Corellian system is artificial and it can move with repulsors and engines would those planets in the Corellian system be considerd a World Ship and could the deathstars be considerd one or do they need to have a "natural" atmosphere.

The planets of the Corellian system can't move under there own power, they got hauled around with Centerpoint station.

The Vong's "Worldships" were moon sized colony ships (ranging from 20 KM to the size of the Death Star). I might be wrong, but considering in Star by Star, the Jedi strike team landed on it with escape pods, I think it's dovin basals give it enough gravity that one can walk on the surface and use it as a planet.

The term Worldship didn´t enter SW with the Vong. It was already used in CrystalStar.

Actually, in Rebel Dream the worldship entering the system was bigger then the second DS.(I think Jaina said so.)

Which means, given the obvious corruption of the DS size as written in NR official history, she really means it is bigger than the 1st DS

Death Star I: 120 km approx.

Death Star II: 160 km approx.

Corrected DK nonfiction/canonical sizes:

Death Star I: 160 km approx.

Death Star II: 900 km approx.

The Worldship in Crystal Star was a planet with a hyperdrive and planetary shield mounted on it. It really WAS a ship, since it could jump from system to system.

ITW OT is a very new book. It is not reasonable to expect everyone had a chance to buy it yet. Besides, ITW OT is written as a piece more for us AFAIK. The Sourcebooks, on the other hand, were often supposedly Rebel and NR documents (albeit with lots of WEG D6 RPG stats added, though we could try and say that WEG D6 was based off an NR Target Person Ability Evaluation Sheet). It would be that crap the guys in SW are going to read, rather than ITW:OT. If they read ITW:OT, their carefully constructed fiction of an intact Endor would also go.

No. Some idea may perhaps be derived from the construction of the second Death Star, a sphere 900 kilometers in diameter, although precisely how large the worldcraft are is as yet undetermined. Perhaps the Galactic Empire's "habitation spheres" in construction over Imperial Center are related in some way to the worldcraft, but that is pure speculation.

hmm, its been a long time, a long time since i read Crystal Star. I dont think theres a real diffrence between a worldship and a world craft though

According to the Essential Chronology, the Republic examamined Hethir's worldship and hauled Bevel Lemelisk out of execution to briefly study it. In the end, while there some advantages they took from the study, the NR had no wish whatsoever to reproduce the expensive tech.
