Uh.... anybody else find a problem with Vader saying "Terminate her, immediately" in ANH? After he says the line, there's like two seconds of nothing, but then he shakes his fist...

Yeah, that's always been there. Seems that originally Prowse's line was longer and it was changed in ADR.

Get Fullscreen. The Widescreen one cuts off the top and bottom. ;) :P
I ended up getting the widescreen and... wow... it looked so good. You can't even notice the black bars at the top and bottem.

It really looks silly. And couldn't they digitally fix the transaprent eye lense thing on Vader's helmet. I mean if you're going to make a big deal about what you can do digitally then show me.

Shame on you Sharp-kun! Tried to mislead the poor guy like that. No treat! :P

Unfortunately, although Sharp-kun was kidding, his suggestion was what the majority of consumers seem to believe, simply due to being used to full screen from the VHS days. Damn you, Panasonic!

In other news, I finally got my box set from Wal-Mart on the way to work today. I'd have gone to Best Buy, but both of the stores closest to me are about a 1/2 hour drive away. I've already watched ANH, and I was checking out the Spanish dub of Vader's revelation. I posted my clip of the new Spanish dub in the "How is the darkest Darth Vader" thread.

Mange, what kind of cases did yours come in, and what kind did you buy to replace them? I'm just wondering because mine came in standard DVD cases, like the TPM and AOTC DVDs.

The spanish dub ain't all that great. LOTR had a GREAT spanish dub. Vader sounds like a pansy and everyone else is speaking too low with little inflection.

Well, it kicked ass compared to the old Spanish dub from the OP of that thread. At least Vader doesn't sound like he's speaking from a damn tape recorder. :P

Have to recheck that scene, but if I recall, it is Tarkin who says that - eg:

Tarkin: She lied. She lied to us!
Vader: I told you she would never conciously betray the Rebellion...
(gestures/flexes fist)
Tarkin: Terminate her! Immediately!

Holy jumped up Jesus, I just checked my account over at Amazon, and it seems it's already in transit in Hiawatha (which is so right next to Cedar Rapids that it's practically part of it).

That means it'll be delivered tomorrow, except I still won't be able to watch it until the weekend... :(

I picked up mine earlier today at the local Wal Mart. $54.98 cdn. So far I'm very impressed with the visual quality and the cg fixes they made, but I am absolutely disgusted that they left in such glaring mistakes as the matte boxes around the TIE's in numerous scenes.

Is there actually a reason for the glaring mistakes - Luke's green lightsabre, audio problems, now the TIE thing - beyond the idiotic "Um, uh... that's what we MEANT to do"?

I prefer PvP online's view- some changes I approve of, some I don't, but frankly- but I'm still going to get it- not only are the SW DVDs fucking reasonably priced (expensive edition my arse), they look and sound excellent and anyone who isnt' buying them because of x or y change is just too damned obsessive.

I just got mine and we are installing a new Home Theatre in the basement. as such I haven't watched the movies yet. I have looked at the bonus disk, and I love it. The thing I like is the legacy featurette.

So, how long before Meow Skywalker shows up in a furry-based SW RP?

I'm halfway through the ROTJ commentary and have watched ANH and ESB already. I have to say, the sound guy gets WAY too much commentary time. I could truly care less how you made the sound for Bosch and the thermal detonator. Tell me more about the story itself, the actors, what had to be done to do this scene, the creative choices made. Jesus three discs of how sounds were made. UGH. If you really want that make a seperate commentray for the technical guys.

I agree with Ben Burtt talking way too much on the commentaries, someone needed to step in and cut him off when important scenes that needed real commentary came up. In general I think the people doing commentary were either up really early or just sat and watched the movie :( . A few good comments then look out Burtt talking through 2-3 entire scenes still trying to explain a sound from 15 minutes ago.

Bah, the wide screen edition was sold out. Gotta wait until tommarrow.

Anyway, I noticed that during the final scenes of the duel in RotJ, when Vader is getting blasted by Force lightning, his skeleton and therefore his injuries are much more clear in the frames in which it's visible. It's now obvious that all but the uppermost of his neck vertebrae are artificial, as well as substantial portions of his shoulders and upper ribcage. There's an obviously artificial construct within the uppermost 1/4 of his ribcage, a little smaller than the area covered by his upper breastplate, plus his collarbone and left shoulder are artificial. If I'm not mistaken, Vader's injuries are actually more serious than was previously believed. I can provide screencaps if anyone is curious.

Just curious, but did anyone notice that when Luke is flying the snowspeeder in 1st person POV and blasts at the legs of an AT-AT that the blasts are visible through parts of the ship... still????

Just bought this for £26 in Tesco, which IMHO is shockingly good value. Not seen any of the original Star Wars movies for years, this is going to be good fun indeed :D I think I'll dedicate tonight to them all.
