Again, my mistake. But where did you get the 30,000 figure? His Divine Shadow wrote:Where the hell did you pull that number from? 30,000 more like it.JME2 wrote:But you're correct. The Vong attack forced numbered 2,000, which was the largest assembly of Vong ships at that stage of the Invasion, though the Battles of Ebaq 9 and the Vong's attack on Mon Calamari would drawf it.
The 2000 number was just the number of ships at the staging point and more and more ships where arriving all the time.

I wonder whether hitting a shield from the other side means its weaker ?

Some quotes, need to dig out SbS to find page numbers:
"The counter at the bottom of the display read in the tens of thousands and still rising"
"The few thousand vessels remaining to him were all standing off, content to attack from a distance while the invaders poured into orbit and swarmed Courscants defence platforms. Though they were badly outnumbered, Mara found it difficult to believe the admiral would be so cowardly."
"Eventualy the Yuuzhan Vong realized they were better off to stop and weather the storm, relying on their weapons and shielding singularaties to destroy the approaching mines. Many failed and were blasted into rubble. A thousand more suffered hull breaches and began to vent internal systems. Almost all took one hit but an astonishing number showed little sign of damge."
