Could anyone else have taught Anakin better?
I know that occasionally people are very hard on Obi Wan as a teacher for Anakin , sayong that he himself was not ready to teach, was either too hard or too soft on him. But in retrospect, considering the kind of strong character that Anakin is, the inherent flaws in him, could any master have done better? (without our 20/20 hindsight to help him out, I mean how could anyone have seen Anakin becoming Darth Vader??)
And is it possible to argue that Obi Wan planted the seeds of being a good father in Anakin by being his only father figure influence so in the end he did manage to rise up against Palpatine to save a son he's only met twice before. Consider it, he's spent about MAYBE an hour or two in total with Luke, including a lightsaber duel in Bespin where Luke was trying to kill him, yet he felt love for him enough to lay down his life for Luke. I think we can see the influence of the always dutiful and self sacrificing Obi Wan in Anakin's actions in the end.

that whole "my young padawan" every 5 seconds might cause problems.
Im always bemused by how undisciplined he is. youd think 25,000 yrs of space faring civilizaion would cause some advances in training techniques.

Yoda. A cane thwack or two in certain delicate portions of the anatomy would get him turned around right good .
But no, seriously. He is the most experienced at training students.

Why isn’t that ever an issue of politics? Because you don’t live in a democracy. You live in a plutocracy. Money rules.

Mace or Yoda.
While Obi-Wan may have imparted some sense of fatherly love...this was his first stab at teaching and literally, his ideal was to take what he knew of Qui Gon and try to emulate.

I think the best bet would be to pair him up with a master who was going to be away from coruscant for a time. Away from the influence of palpatine he would have a much better chance,

It wouldn't matter who trained him, as regardless he would be seduced by the Dark Side thanks to Palpatine's influence and machinations, and thanks to his stealth, no-one would suspect him. So in the end Obi-wan's failure may well have been unavoidable, as it seems apparent from the Prequel Trilogy that Obi-wan was only a part of the problem; the entire Jedi Order has this on its collective heads.
Besides, people, how do we know Anakin's training wasn't overseen by the other Jedi? Why would they throw Obi-wan, a recently conferred rank of Knight, the responsibilities of training a padawan?
And I like Stravo's idea.

Exactly, which is why I think the senior members of the Jedi Council was aware that Anakin would fall so that he could fulfill the Prophecy, but that they wasn't aware of the consequences.Crazedwraith wrote:Not really, I think it was Anakin's "destiny" to fall so the force could be balanced and all that shit.
