I really you think you overanalyze scant phrases of dialogue, Stravo.

I think it's fair to ask the question on what that means considering the Purge. I just suspect there will be a suprise that will make the Purge as we envisioned it a much much smaller affair than we believed.
Wherever you go, there you are.

What difference does it make? We know as a point of fact that Vader did school Jedi Masters not so hindered in the agility department (SW: Tales, Extinction), and that the Inquisitorious continued to hunt down remaining Jedi such as Jerec's apprehension of Rahn.
Looks like a moot point to me.

It always struck me that only a fully trained Jedi could stand before the Emperor and Vader, and have a chance at succeeding, but only Luke had a chance to actually get that close to the two of them. Obi-Wan and Yoda would probably never get close enough to the Emperor to force a showdown, the Emperor would probably throw wave after wave of his own men at the two Jedi before letting them on the same planet.
Especially consider that with precognition the Emperor would see them coming.

Perhaps it's just that Luke was "special" that kept him alive. Vader and Palpy would want to kill Obi-Wan and Yoda, for certain.
Luke they could try to turn. Vader sees his son and wants to protect him (in his own twisted way). So that gives him some leverage. Obviously Palpatine felt, if he doesn't join us, we have to kill him.
Perhaps the two Jedi masters could forsee some of this leverage.
But then again, it also seems to me that Obi-Wan & Yoda basically intended to just train Luke to be a Vader killing machine (Yoda throws in the Emperor of course).
The first goal is to channel Luke's desire for revenge against the murderer of his father (Obi-Wan's plan), and once he's in the Rebellion, Yoda tries to channel that desire to topple the Empire into Luke, so he'll fight the Emperor.
Once Luke learns the truth ("too soon") and comes to terms with it, he flips about and tries to turn Vader back. It's a little confusing, because we aren't quite sure what exactly Obi-Wan and Yoda had planned in advance, or if they were just making it up as they went along. Was the "shroud of the Dark Side" still over them?
Maybe Episode III will clear up some of this (hope so).
