It is obvious to any thinking creature that the early EU technical sources were foul with research and self-consistency errors.

Why won't LFL fix the 12.8 km fallacy?

Why won't LFL fix the "15 m" AT-ATs?

Why won't LFL fix the "Imperial-class" and "Super-class" fuck ups?

Why won't LFL fix the Star Destroyers were the battleships of the Imp fleet screw up?

Why won't they?

It would be amazingly easy to fix. Just release a guide that has the premise of being a historical revisionist document within the SW universe revealing biases in New Republic accounts of Imperial tech, etc.

Why won't LFL get decent advisers and technical source authors?

Because the licensing policy requires all the following licencees to get in line. WEG with all it's errors shaped a majority of those errors which continues to pollute the EU. Stackpole did the rest by including game data in books.

They haven't changed the policy yet, and I don't think it would that easy either. It would require a horde of lawyers, reconditioned thought police, lots of work, and last but not least, it wouldn't be accepted by many fans.

I don't know- I thought Palpatine would approve of the ships of his navy being given their due (17.6km, not 12.8km), and conclusively being given proper (Imperator/Imperial controversy) and non-poncy (Executor/Super controversy) names.

Not to mention the true height of the AT-ATs etc.

There is a vocal faction of EU contributors that wants the SW universe shrunken down so that it will be easier to make games and personal stories of import. They are at odds with the purists, who want the SW universe as large and ancient as it was portrayed to be in the original ANH.
