Not standard AT-STs on Endor?

Post by nightmare »

Tempest Scout

Tempest Squadron was the walker squadron at Endor. However, this card seem to suggest that they didn't use AT-ST walkers, but some other type of antipersonnel walkers presumably closely related to AT-STs.

Any thoughts on this?

Edit: Try now, I linked the main page instead.

EDIT2: There are also Tempest AT-ATs. I also changed the thread title to something less eyecatching and more precise.

Have a read again it says they are often used together with AT-ATs not AT-STs. ;)

Or just simply read the name! "COMBAT VEHICLE: AT-ST"

On the topic of AT-STs, I seem to recall seeing the designation of the AT-ST variant that participated in the Battle of Hoth, but I can´t find any mention of it. The AT-ST model was slightly different than the standard seen in ROTJ and most EU sources, would have liked to know what they were called...

I'm not a complete idiot, you know. I read that. The point was that this could be a different version of the AT-ST, much like the modified TIE/ln on the same page.

Here's another walker in the Tempest Squadron, this one apparently with a prototype targeting system.

This one is modified for patrol..

Yet another mod

So it appears that several of them, if not all, are a bit outside the norm. Question is, if we can draw any conclusions from all this?

This AT-AT was apparently modifed to fight rebel airspeeders. Presumably a lesson from Hoth?

No offense. It's just your original title and post

sounded as you wanted to identify it as a different type, not as a non-standard version. My bad.

I'm a-thinking Tempest is the name of this walkers group? Just like the walkers of the Battle of Hoth is the Blizzard Force, with designations like Blizzard 1, Blizzard 2, etc.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if within the group itself they have some flexibility and can modify their walkers as they see fit-- no doubt these walkers were optimized for a jungle environment.
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.
