The reason of the colour markings on the ROTS Clones

Post by General Veers »

Hi to everyone-recently signed on.

I have seen references to the various markings on the ROTS Clonetroopers-are an indication of the "Legion" they belong to.

THe ROTS VD is the only source I have seen that supports this.
Has anybody seen anything that can support that or refute it?

All the clones (that we seee) in 501th (IIRC) legion have blue markings (clones with Vader/Anakin in the trailer(s)), also Clone commandos use color as ID.

The ROTS ICS seems to support this, as one clone is described as having "honour markings" on his armour because he served with the Jedi.

Why would you want anything else? The Visual Dictionary for RotS is about the highest source you could possibly get for what's seen in the films, visually.

Colors marking legion makes a hell of a lot more sense than denoting rank (as it was in AotC).

Having you Sergeant or Captain in bright colors makes them prime sniper targets. I can easily understand the shift to denoting legion rather than rank.

Just curious and I like the idea of different unit markings so more sources for myself to see. Since being an observer on this board and many other SW related-the defintion of "canon" has firmly been established-something I welcome-I like being able to buy a SW book like the RoTS VD that is well done and you can rely on the information.

I fully agree with that and saw these markings as a way to get away from the rank colours.

Thanx guys for the replies.
