Altered. Though really, the book has been out for umpteen years... What next: Spoilers: Luke is Vader's son.

Shockingly enough, I know some people who'd honestly consider that a spoiler.... :?

Anyways, "Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter" was excellent, it had me on the edge of my seat staring down the enflammed words in almost every second from expectation.

The Thrawn trilogy and duology both are the closest literature I can approach to that feeling the EU can give of the original trilogy, so I don't mind reading them once and a while over the years.

What else...I found the Bounty Hunter trilogy and the Han Solo trilogy quite an enjoyable read also, and I'd even throw in "Shadows of the Empire" there because of the time period and characters involved. The Bounty Hunter books expand the previous level of contention between Vader and Xizor and makes "Shadows of the Empire" all the more enjoyable if one reads them in that order.

And honestly, in earnest comparison to some of the worse books of the EU, the Jedi Academy trilogy can make an easy intermediate level between "good" such as Timothy Zahn and "bad" such as RA Salvatore. So it really all depends on whose reading which novel. Just so far as one can be pulled back into that reality called "Star Wars" I suppose it doesn't actually matter.

Whoa, dude, seriously. Think about it, this is a thread about book recommendations, which sort of directly states that the original poster hasn't read any of them.

I dare to say most people haven't, unlike the movies.

My favorites are the Thrawn trilogy/duology, Courtship of Princess Leia, Shadows of the Empire and the Jedi Academy Trilogy. From the NJO, as others have already said, Star by Star is THE best followed by Aaron Allston's duology. From the Prequel era the only book that I actually like is Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter.

Thrawn Trilogy simply one of the best.
Courtship of Princess Leia was cool. Dathomir is neat. Rancors were cool.
Shadows of the Empire. Best tie-in novel. Love the idea of somone trying to usurp Vader.
Oh I'm sorry, were you killing somthing?
