Ok, n00b time,

I know WHAT BDZ is, Base Delta Zero... I know what it does, how it works, and even read a REALLY nice description of it in Stravo's fanfic *plugs Starcrossed*

BUT

Can anyone tell me WHY it's called Base Delta Zero

I think it's Bravo Delta Zero, but I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure it's just a nomenclature, like "go to Plan B", except more standarized.

I don't think they're initials for "blow dis zing" or something.

It possible that there was (major) republic/CIS base called Delta 0 that was destroyed in BDZ operation.

I heard somewhere, I think in a fan-fic , that it was 'return to the year zero'.

That's the Imperial code for the operation. It doesn't change, unlike most Imperial codes, so that there is no unncertainty about the order and the line of responsibility for it.
