Nevermind. I don't even know what I'm saying there. Let's just drop it.Crown wrote:Ooooookay, what?
What are you saying here? Are you arguing a point or what?
No you don't understand. He tried to save his mum, but arrived too late. He was blaming himself, then he started blaming Obi-wan. Then he blamed the Tuskens. He wasn't in a rational state of mind.i don't give a shit. He was acting that way all through the movie, so what if this was the first time he vocalised his thoughts clearly?
Crown, he says he thinks Obi-wan is a great mentor, only that he's overly critical and sometimes seems to not take him seriously. This frustrates Anakin, as it would any who take that condescension from someone they respect. Obi-wan IS holding him back - other people his age did the trials and became Knights. He asks "Why not me?" Naturally he's young and stupid, and impatient. I don't see 'evil prick' though.And fuck it, he accuese Obi-Wan of holding him back (or in general being a bad mentor) in the scene where Padme is backing her bags;
And Obi-wan didn't disagree with using Padme as bait, he just said 'It's too risky." Anakin then explains what he's doing. Obi-wan didn't exactly snap at Anakin over the whole matter. Hell they didn't even talk about it that long, they went onto that digression about Palpatine and politicians and whatnot. And it was HER idea to use herself as bait, remember? If you're going to use this as a sign of his 'rebellious' you should know that 1. it was Padme's idea, not his and 2. Obi-wan didn't scream at Anakin over it or stop the plan, he just crossed his arms and said "Too risky, but I can't be fucked getting worked up over it."
[EDIT] I no longer disagree with the 'rebellious' angle to his character, I just don't see it as this massive flaw in characterisation. And I can't see him as an evil prick at this point in the story.
And it's now 03:00. I'm gonna try to get some sleep. Once again, Stravo, I'm sorry for upsetting you over the whole matter and I take back my words. I think we can disagree over the issue of characterisation while still discussing it, if you want to. I got hot and I shouldn't have. Sorry.
