No, I won't go to a midnight screening. I have a maths test (a final, none the less) on Wednesday and an eigth pages long paper on Ming China that's supposed to be ready for Thursday, so I'm gonna be too tired to see a movie in the middle of the night. And I don't want to fall asleep during the last Star Wars movie, that would just not be right. If it had been like The Two Towers or something, then it would have been alright (and my brother did just that, and it wasn't even during the night), but not a Star Wars. No way.
So I'm going to see it at a later time. Maybe the weekend. I just need to plug my ears so I will not hear any spoilers from people who went to see it...

I want to avoid the whole fan explosion environment as much as possible, since I both fucking hate fans and want to properly experience the film. I'll be damned to attend a Midnight showing, and would also be so to actually attend within the first five days.
I'll catch a midday matinee of it sometime about mid next week.

I had second thoughts about the showing, but I would like to see one of the films on opening day, and this is my last shot.

Seeing The New SW Movie
I'm not planning on seeing it until early June or so. There's never been a movie made that I'll stand in line for or pay full price for, and to be frank, about the only thing in ROTJ I'm really keen on seeing anyway is General Grievous. Even him, I can wait on...

Seeing it in the afternoon Thursday. Just didn't feel like fighting for tickets, standing in lines, etc. Also, my friends wouldn't go at midnight, and it's usually more fun to go with friends so you can talk about it afterward, and then convince each other that you need to go to another showing right now, even though you haven't got that much spare cash lying around.

Re: Who *isn't* going to a midnight showing?
I simply can't, since I typically work the evening shift until midnight. Even if I got off a bit early, there's no way I could make it to my local theater with tickets and not be late, so I won't see it until (at the earliest) this weekend. I'd rather miss the big crowds anyway, and I hear the first showings may be sold out already. I'm probably 'unplugging the Matrix' starting tomorrow, just in case.Butterbean569 wrote:Since I assume we're all hardcore SW fans and most of us will be going to a midnight showing, I wanted to know who wasn't going to be able to make it. That way, we can take pity on them So, who isn't going Wednesday night/Thursday morning, and why?
And if someone responds "I'm not going to the midnight showing, because I'll have already seen it", I'm gonna be pissed One of my stupid friends won a radio contest and is going to a premiere on Tuesday night...bah!
A coworker of mine blatantly said how he was probably just going to download the movie and watch it. I almost got into an argument with him about how "it wouldn't be the same" (which it wouldn't) but maybe I didn't feel like showing my geekdom at that moment... I know, I failed you guys!
Seeing a movie like this on opening night is something I would do with a group of friends, but going alone I think would suck.

I plan to wait till friday or even later, once exams are done. I can then go see it with my family.

Tomorrow's Schedule:
- Sleep in until 2 PM (I requested a day off work )
- Eat Lunch
- Go with my brother and his friends to one of their houses where we'll watch Ep. I and II on a 61 inch TV with surround sound
- Leave the house at around 8 to get in line at the theatre
- Watch ROTS
- Go to bed
Thursday's schedule:
- Go to work from 10-5
- See ROTS again
- Watch ANH, TESB, ROTJ afterwards
- Go to bed
I'm so pumped. Let's just hope that all this hype doesn't lead to THAT big of a letdown. I know there will be a letdown of sorts, but by the time the last scene comes around I think I'll be tearing up no matter what. Man, I'm so glad that Purdue ends the semester in early May. One of my friends has finals this week

I'm going to put off seeing the movie for a month minimum, possibly two.

I love going to midnight movies. And this is a great opportunity to make fun of the dorks in full dress. One of me and my friends hobbies while going out is making fun of people. Promises to be a blast!

Personally I think it might be crammed over the weekend. During the day for all the younger kids, and then at night for the older crowd. I don't really like packed theatres.
So we are probably going tuesday during the day. Should be less of a crowd. I think.
I'd never be able to stay awake during a midnight showing. Even if I slept in.
